Superman and Lois Fail Safe Roundtable Review

The CW has a wacky schedule this year. We just got two episodes and now we are on another 2 week break because of the Olympics. We are not a fan of all these breaks in between and we wanna know what is happening already. That being said, let’s dive in and get to the latest episode of Superman and Lois, Fail Safe, as there is a lot to cover.

Superman and Lois Fail Safe Synopsis

Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) pays a visit to Morgan Edge (Adam Rayner); Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) work together on a story; Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) finds a welcome distraction during a very stressful school day.

The episode starts off with another flashback of Tal/Morgan Edge’s teenage years of “training” with his father (A.C Peterson). His flashback is interrupted by Superman. Do you think Morgan Edge’s is still plotting something big or has he really given up?

C: Oh he is most definitely up to something, after he blew up the Eradicator at the end of last week and the way his eyes flashed, there is definitely more going on.

R: As if Morgan Edge would give up so easily, especially from what we’ve seen in these flashbacks scenes. Never. I’m sure he already has a plan and everything that happened happened for a reason. He’s one smart bad guy I guess. But also, why are these bad guys always looking so handsome? It’s not fair. Making it pretty hard to actually dislike them. Ugh.

PB: He is totally planning something big. I feel like this is right where he wanted to be. He is waiting for something to show up or he is storing his power for a big fight.

Superman and John Henry (Wole Parks) team up to catch Leslie (Stacey Farber); who has been fully taken over by the black kryptonite. Do you think her capture was too easy?

PB: I totally think it was way too easy and too fast. I feel like this too is part of Morgan’s plan.

C: It did feel a little easy, although John Henry is pretty damn badass, and when he’s on Superman’s side they seem pretty unstoppable together (Kryptonite weapons notwithstanding).

R: Seemed like this was all part of a Plan B which Morgan Edge and Leslie figured out together. Don’t think she would just disappear there knowing she’s short-handed. There’s probably a good reason for this and I guess we’ll find out more sooner or later.

Speaking of Superman and John Henry, did you get this total best buddy vibes like “Superman and Batman”  from these two?

R: Like Clare already mentioned, I wouldn’t call them best buddies yet and it’s not the vibe as of now, but they’re definitely an unstoppable duo. Kinda complement each other. Can’t wait to see more of this duo.

PB:  They are totally new BFFs. I think Superman loves to have someone to fight crime and fly with. I heard somewhere that John Henry in the comic books is Batman from another earth. I wonder if that is true.

C: I’m not sure I’d say best buddy vibes, but they definitely make a good team. I think John Henry still needs time to adapt to being on this Earth, and knowing that the Superman here is a good guy.

Jonathan ditched school with a new girl but once they are alone she just pumps him for info on the DOD and his grandfather. Do you think she really likes him or was just trying to be nosy?

C: Oh she so just wanted info. I don’t think she cared about Jonathan at all. Which sucks. Cos Jonathan is a sweetheart.

R: Don’t think she actually gives a damn about Jonathan. Poor guy. She didn’t care about him back in the days and things didn’t change yet. She’s just being super nosey and wanna know everything. No more and no less. I wanna give Jonathan a big hug, please.

PB: Teenagers are assholes but I honestly think she wasn’t trying to be mean or had ill intentions but she could have gone about it in a different way.

How do you feel about Superman asking the General to keep the 4377 just in case?

C: Honestly, given what happened in the previous episode with Clark almost being taken over by Zod I do think there needs to be a fall back plan in case something like that happens again, or another bad Kryptonian like Tal Rho shows up bent on destruction.

PB: I think it’s safe but I also would worry the General might use it too soon.

R: I do understand why Lois is worried, but I also understand the reasons why Superman wants to keep the 4377. It’s a tough decision, but probably for the best if the worst case scenario will happen one day and they don’t have any other opportunity.

When Lois finds out about the 4377, she loses it big time. Who do you think is right Superman for keeping it or Lois?

PB: I think they both have valid points, so I can’t really say who is right. I think maybe keep some but give it to someone who they trust as a just in case. I really don’t think the General can be trusted.

R: Don’t think you can say that anyone is right when it comes to this kind of question. Like I already said, I do understand both of their points. Obviously Lois doesn’t wanna keep something that is able to kill her husband. It could fall into the wrong hands. But IF Superman will turn into bad again and things are getting pretty much worse it’s probably for the best to have something up their sleeves. Just in case.

C: As per my previous answer, I think Clark is right, but he probably should have discussed it with Lois.

How do you feel about John Henry being the keeper of 4377?

PB: I am not sure he is the best but he is better than the General.

C: Honestly I think after the previous episode I’d rather he was in control of a stock of Superman killing weapons rather than General Lane.

R: Don’t know as of now who I would trust more. Of course, General Lane is pretty much an asshole sometimes, but I also still don’t fully trust John Henry just yet. Yes, they’re a great duo now, but things can change again and then what? Definitely a tough one.

Morgan has another flashback with his father and how he decided to be good and reach out to Superman but now he has fully given into his father’s wishes. What is about to happen next?

R: Let’s get ready to rumble, shall we? One BIG finale is coming and I don’t think I’m ready for it just yet. Now we’ve got a break of a few weeks until we get to see the last two episodes. Let’s take one last deep breath before that.

C: Well I think he’s been taken over by Zod, so bring on a massive punch up!

PB: One hell of a fight is coming. I am glad they still have 4377 cause I think they are really gonna need it.
