This is honestly such a good game that I find the words hard to come by. I don't want to keep using the words "hilarious" and "unique" but it genuinely is. I would reccomend this game to everyone I know. No matter who they are. It's cheeky sense of humour and action-packed gameplay will find itself appealing to everyone.

SuperEpic: The Entertainment War Review – Absolute genius and simply wonderful

SuperEpic is a satirical 2D platformer game that is developed by Undercoders and is published by Numskull Games. Its clearly retro, Metroidvania style appeals to me but I had no idea what I was getting into.

Plot

The plot is hilarious and simple. The world is being controlled by the evil RegnantCorp who are taking over people’s minds through free to play games and micro-transactions.

There are a few who resist and fight back, and your character is one of them. You play as a raccoon riding a llama.

Together you must uncover the company’s secrets and bring it down to justice so that video games and society can be free from an Orwellian society.

Gameplay

Riding your llama into the HQ of RegnantCorp you fight your way through hoardes of pigs dressed as businessmen and women. Using weapons like “granny’s umbrella” you have to make your way through the maze-like headquarters.

What’s genius about this game and what I loved most about it. Are the little digs it takes at free to play mobile games. There’s even a part in the game where I had to scan a QR code on my phone. Then play the game I got a link to. Which turned out to be a pig version of Flappy Bird. In order to get access to a code which would remove a barrier that I needed to pass.

It’s a simple 2D puzzle like platformer that’s simplicity is it’s strength. Because of the simple and pixelated graphics, the story and comedy are allowed to shine through.

Review

This game is genius. It’s funny throughout and the action never lets up. Whilst also making some very valid points about the video game industry.

I found myself playing for hours. None of the jokes got stale or boring. Spending hours upon hours beating up these pig business moguls was so much more fun than I had imagined.

The game’s unique features – like the QR code trick – are also used as a tongue in cheek way to take the mick out of free to play games and their micro-transactions. They genuinely are a genius addition to this already unique and entertaining game.
