‘Star Trek 3’ director Justin Lin reveals film’s title, shares first photo from set

Star Trek

Justin Lin has excited Trekkies by revealing the title of the third Star Trek movie.

Lin tweeted the title of the latest film in the hit franchise, along with a picture of a Starfleet badge, the first photo taken on set.

“Let the next Starfleet voyage begin!” he wrote Monday, along with the hashtags “#StarTrekBeyond” and “LLAP.”

The latter is a reference to Spock’s iconic catchphrase “live long and prosper,” and presumably a shoutout to the late Leonard Nimoy, who often employed the hashtag in own his tweets.

Lin, best known for directing several films in the Fast & Furious franchise, is taking over the Star Trek films from J.J. Abrams, who moved across the galaxy to oversee the continuation of the Star Wars franchise.

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana are back for the third “Star Trek” flick, reprising their roles as Kirk, Spock and Uhura, respectively.

Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty, is one of the film’s co-writers, and Idris Elba is rumored to have joined the cast to play the film’s main villain.

No date has been announced when Star Trek Beyond will be released. What do you think of the title FANdemaniacs? We want to hear from you below!
