Soundtrack Sunday – The Twilight Saga
In honour of the Twilight Auctions taking place this weekend, our Soundtrack Sunday today will look back at some of the music that featured in our beloved franchise.
First up, kicking everything off, is the remarkable Supermassive Black Hole from Muse.
I couldn’t *really* do a post on the music of Twilight and not include this could I? I don’t think I need say anything about this, just sit back, relax and listen!
Another favourite of mine, even before it was used for the first movie, is Leave Out All The Rest by Linkin Park. When Chester and co slow it down they produce some beautiful songs.
Muse popped up again on the soundtrack for New Moon with I Belong To You. The track was remixed especially for the movie.
Ok Go are pretty well known for their upbeat, poppy songs with crazily inventive videos. Their track featured on the New Moon soundtrack however is a little slower, more suited to the mood.
Some of the lyrics of Heavy In Your Arms by Florence and the Machine just SCREAM Twilight, especially the final verse;
“I was a heavy heart to carry But he never let me down When he had me in his arms My feet never touched the ground.”
Welsh duo The Joy Formidable (who recently toured the US with KONGOS) provided this track for the end credits of Breaking Dawn pt1
Another song that does not need anything said about it – Christina Perri – A Thousand Years. Bella walking down the aisle to marry Edward. That dress. Perfect!
I do love me some Ellie Goulding, and this track and her voice fit the tone of the franchise nicely.
Gonna finish up with the heartbreakingly haunting vocals of Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) and New For You.
Did we include your favourites FANdemaniacs or did we miss something out? Tell us which songs from The Twilight Saga hold the best memories for you, we’d love to know! That’s it for this Soundtrack Sunday, catch you next week!
