This week for soundtrack Sunday I bring you some songs from a TV show that we all may love, the characters have not aged a bit since I started watching it as a teenager. Back in 1989 when I was just 8 years old, an animated TV show graced our TV sets, one that even today I love to watch, it’s the Simpsons, with Bart, Lisa, Maggie, Marge and Homer who make most dysfunctional families look normal and haven’t aged a day in their 28 series run.
This family have been to many countries, blown up a few things, caused a riot, separated their town, managed to get rich, Bankrupted people, found siblings they never knew existed and had many more wacky adventures besides. Their town has a Clown who is loved by all but is not your average entertainer, a money grabbing billionaire who controls the town’s power supply as well as just about everything else, the cartoon show that he airs involves a cat and a mouse mutilating each other. The local convenience store is owned by a man who has Octuplets, a Bartender who sometimes reads to the ill in hospital, the school principal who lives at his mother’s house and many more characters the mimic how society can be in this day and age.
The show has had a range of episodes and gust voices that make you wonder what life was like before it began way back in 1989, especially with catchphrases as ‘Ay Carumba’, ‘D’oh’, Eat my shorts’ Marge’s grumbles and Maggie’s sucking of her pacifier.
So let’s listen to a couple of tunes from The Simpsons including a hit single I know I brought when it hit the charts all those years ago.
