Welcome back to Soundtrack Sunday! This week I was inspired whilst uploading new workout music to my iPhone, so I can work out in time to a cool beat and one of the CD’s had a song I always associate with a Soundtrack that is the soul of Teenage Geekery. The soundtrack I have and love hosts a whole load of songs that would have been playing in ‘The Bronze’ and any fan will know I am talking about Joss Whedon’s ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer!’
I have two soundtracks and I will pick two songs from each for you, songs that were in the early seasons of the show and grabbed my attention. The thing I loved about this show and its soundtrack was that it was done for the generation it was about and so many shows miss that, the music at ‘The Bronze’ was the music that the characters listened to and was the music I would listen to.
The names were unknown at the time who are now known by all it is a series that most people loved from the start, Sarah Michelle Gellar played Buffy Summers a teenage girl who had a calling, she killed Vampires and the supernatural sort, all whilst being at school, with the school librarian who is her ‘Watcher’ played By Anthony Stewart Head and her best friends Xander Harris and Willow Rosenberg, played by Alyson Hannigan and Nicholas Brendon. After slaying a good vampire or two side by side with her Vampire boyfriend Angel played by David Boreanaz or relaxing before a verbal battle with Cordelia Chase played by Charisma Carpenter or a hands on battle against bad boy Spike played by the talented James Marsters, she would dance away her troubles with friends or even the odd fellow Slayer Like Faith played by the amazing Eliza Dushku.
So sit back and relax and enjoy my favourite musical picks from early Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
