Sons of Anarchy: What a Piece of Work Is Man

If you asked me before the season started which member of SAMCRO would not make it to the end, Bobby never came to mind. The genius behind Sons of Anarchy, Kurt Sutter, has a way of always doing the unexpected, and he does it very well. Before I take a deeper look into last night’s episode, I would like to take a moment to remember Bobby “Elvis” Munson.

With no music in this week’s episode, it added an extra eerie feel, as we see Jax lying down with Abel. Everyone in the house on alert, Jax decides its best that everyone go to the cabin. Wendy thought it would be best for Abel to go back to school, but she was quickly overruled. As Gemma pointed out, if she wants to continue to help Abel, she’ll need to do it Jax’s way. That sounds strangely familiar.   Abel thinks the real reason that they want everyone at the cabin is because someone else died. He catches everything, and someone better start really paying attention soon.

Before Gemma can make her way to the cabin with the others, she needs to make a pit stop downtown to ID the guy who killed Tara, according to Juice. She wasn’t going to go, despite Unser’s conversation with her, but Rat told her it’s what the club needs her to do. Down at the police station, Gemma and Jarry get into it, after Gemma reveals that she knows Jarry is on the Club’s payroll and on Chib’s private parts. That’s enough to piss off the corrupt cop, she slaps Gemma, and Gemma sends her over her desk on the floor. Now that the Gemma we know and love!

In the interim, the club needs to find a way to get Bobby back in one piece and keep Grant and his mom alive, as he promised. Grant gets scared and takes off, but it doesn’t take long for the guys to catch up to him and set the plan in motion to meet with August Marks. In order to appease Marks, the boys go digging for the bodies so they can swap out body parts and restitch. Only on Sons, would this be normal. As the guys get the body ready for August, Jax gets some unexpected visitors. We can’t forget that Jax just killed Jury, the president of Indian Hills. The new prez and VP pay Jax and Chibs a visit to inform them that they want an impartial forum composed of other Sons charters to determine what needs to be done. Unless, Jax can prove that Jury was the rat somehow, he is going to have another war on his hands to deal with.

Back at TM, Jarry pays Unser a visit. Here is where the truth is finally starting to come out. After Gemma’s statement earlier in the day, Jarry looked into Dun and found out that during the exact time of Tara’s murder, Dun was in Vegas, at the Vegas PD to be exact after a night of drunk and disorderly conduct. Hmm, so Juice is lying and Gemma is lying, and will someone please tell Jax!!! That would be too easy, so instead Jarry and Unser decide that they need to revoke Juice’s deal so that Lin doesn’t get killed. With the deal dead, Juice is thrown in solitary, his worst nightmare, more so than hiding that rather large tube with the shiv in it up his backside.

As SAMCRO meets Marks and his crew for the second time to exchange one dead body for Bobby, it is with great sadness that Marks double crosses Jax, and as he hands Bobby over, he pulls out the gun he has hidden behind Bobby’s back. Prior to Bobby leaving where he was being held captive, they broke his jaw. Now it all made sense why they did that, so he couldn’t communicate to Jax that the gun was there. As Jax embraces Bobby, August pulls the gun from behind Bobby and shoots him in the head. One second and a gasp and a scream later, I can’t believe that Bobby is really gone. Rest in peace, Bobby.

The club is distraught, and now Jax has to go and tell everyone else what happened. He also makes the call to take the statement from Grant’s mom to the police. Chibs delivers that message to Jarry, along with a rather hot steamy rip your clothes off scene. Of course, he has his way with her on the top of her cop car, with poor Quinn just sitting there. Awkward!

Back at the cabin, Gemma takes a private moment with Bobby, where she tells him she’s sorry. The magnitude of her lie is weighing very heavily on her. As she asks for forgiveness, Abel is standing there in the shadows watching and listening to his grandmother yet again confess her wrongdoings. As the end is coming closer and closer, it’s only a matter of time before everything explodes. Who will be left standing at the end?
