Rob’s Corner

There has been plenty of talk in the past few weeks of Rob’s upcoming role in Olivier Assayas’ Idol’s Eye.  As we have previously heard, Rob will be joined in this film by Robert De Niro.  Even though the plot is being kept under wraps, it is said to be a sophisticated heist action-thriller.

“Benaroya Pictures has come aboard to produce and finance Idol’s Eye, which is expected to start production in October in Chicago and Toronto. Charles Gillibert developed and produced Idol’s Eye with CG Cinema, Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, Film 360’s Scott Lambert, Alexandra Milchan and Michael Benaroya. Ben Sachs is executive producing. International Film Trust will be repping foreign sales. CAA, which arranged financing for the film, will represent domestic rights along with WME.”  (Deadline)

Rob also has commented on his upcoming role:

“He likes being shocking, he says, and his next role is satisfyingly so. Starring alongside Robert De Niro in Olivier Assayas’s  Idol’s Eye, he will play a small-time criminal caught up with the Chicago mafia. “My character is this slightly delusional lost child,” he says. “Everyone always glamorises criminals – it feels inevitable in movies – but in this it’s really not glamorised. It is quite dense. It’s really serious. Very political.” (The Guardian)

So let’s just say I’m so excited for this movie.  Rob + De Niro + Mafia = SUCCESS for me
