Robert Pattinson to Play “The Batman”

These past few years Robert Pattinson has been breaking away from the stigma of his Twilight days.  Portraying everything from photographer (Life), to bank robber (Good Time) to his most recent space criminal (High Life), Pattinson has shown us that he is in it for the art, not the money.

So, in a shock to many of us (even though we were hoping it was true), Rob is bringing his acting back to the big screen in  “The Batman”.  Pre-production is expected to start this summer on the Warner Bros/DC Comics film with Matt Reeves taking the helm.

Robert Pattinson

Career

Pattinson’s career really took off after Twilight made it big over 10 years ago.  Since then, he has been focusing his attentions on mainly indie films, with directors that he wants to work with.  Working with the likes of David Cronenberg, James Gray and David Michôd, Rob has been working his way to indie stardom.

2017 seems to be the year that everyone, not just fans, took notice of his acting skills when he joined Josh and Benny Safdie in Good Time.  The movie made its way through the award circuit, creating a ton of buzz but unfortunately no traction.  Such a shame, because the movie was amazing and everyone should see it if they can.

Since then, he has still kept to his indie ways and his new film, High Life, directed by Claire Denis, seems to be creating that same awards buzz.

King of Cannes

As promo is winding down for the Denis film, the King of Cannes will be back on May 19th for his next film, The Lighthouse.  Starring opposite Willem Defoe and directed by Robert Eggers, Pattinson has given another performance that people are anticipating will be award worthy.

This isn’t the first time he’s been to the famed film festival.  In recent years, he has been there for Good Time (2017), The Rover (2014), Maps To The Stars (2014) and Cosmopolis (2012).

What’s Next

Next on his slate is another Warner Bros film, directed by Christopher Nolan and co-starring John David Washington.  The unnamed movie is scheduled to begin shooting shortly and open July 17, 2020.  After that, Pattinson will move on to film The Souvenir Part II, directed by Joanna Hogg.

Hopefully, with all these amazing movies under his belt, Pattinson’s acting ability will finally get the recognition it deserves.  And welcome to the DCEU Rob, we can’t wait to see you on the big screen again!
