The vamps come together(eventually) in what turns out to be a heartfelt episode. Laszlo is a good guy, even when he's not Jackie Daytona.

Review: What We Do in the Shadows 309: A Farewell

What We Do in the Shadows 309: Somebody dies. People pretty much die in every episode of What We Do in the Shadows, so maybe I should be more clear. Somebody dies, not just any body.

Nandor(Kayvan Novak) is tired of his roommates talking down to and arguing with him. He’s also unhappy that they took him away from the cult he was involved in, too. So he announces to his friends that he is going into Super Slumber.

Super Slumber is when a vampire goes into a deep sleep lasting anywhere from fifty to three hundred years.

Colin Robinson(Mark Proksch) thinks Nandor is doing this to avoid Colin’s 100th birthday party.

Guillermo(Harvey Guillen) is heartbroken. So heartbroken that he doesn’t ask to be turned before his master goes to sleep.

The Worldwide Supreme Vampire Council

The Guide(Kristen Schaal) appears in a plume of smoke to announce that The Worldwide Supreme Vampire Council is coming to visit to see how Nadja(Natasia Demetriou) and Nandor are doing as Council heads. Oh, and they’re arriving tonight. Luckily, Laszlo(Matt Berry) had already made plans for Colin Robinson’s birthday bash.

The beautiful Contessa(Khandi Alexander), Dominykas the Dreadful(David Cross)-and his mortal gold digging girlfriend Coco(Samantha Helt) that doesn’t quite get that Dom ain’t dying-arrive at eight o’clock.

Oh, and Donal Logue really is a vampire. He really digs the lifestyle.

The Party

After an entire half hour of Super Slumber, Guillermo wakes Nandor up. He tells the gang to just tell the Supreme Council Nadja killed him. And goes back to Slumber.

Nadja tells the council, and they want to see the body. So Guillermo wakes Nandor up…again. Now Nandor has to pretend to be dead(which Super Slumber would have done quite nicely) while the Worldwide Council fondles him, as he has a rumored, Rasputin sized member.

Laszlo’s Secret

Nadja was wondering why Laszlo even threw a party for Colin Robinson. Laszlo has a secret. He found a book in the Council library that had a fact he has been hiding; energy vampires only live exactly one hundred years.

As the night progresses, and the Worldwide Council engages in an orgy upstairs, guess what? Guillermo wakes Nandor up again to have him come see the now dead Colin Robinson. This bunch really is a family, albeit dysfunctional. Diesfunctional? Deadfunctional?

Angrily, Nandor tells his roommates that Colin has “died” before. They even buried him once. To demonstrate, he tickles Colin, but Colin doesn’t move. He pats Colin Robinson’s face, and his hand goes through Colin Robinson’s already decaying head. Ewww.
