Recap: What We Do in the Shadows 204: The Curse
In What We Do in the Shadows 204: The Curse, Nandor checks his email, and Guillermo becomes a reluctant slayer-again.
Prepare for some really creepy moments!
Spoilers!
Email Miracle
Nandor(Kayvan Novak) is reading random letters from his box of letters. Letters from Mom and Dad, Baskin-Robbins, an enemy that was pleading for peace(oops).
But now he must check his electronic mail. It’s been a decade, but he only has two emails. That is a miracle, because I get crap every day.
But that’s where the miracle stops-Bloody Mary has sent him a chain letter, and if he doesn’t forward it to ten people, he will be cursed! If he does forward, though, he gets untold riches!
…wait…how did Nandor read the letter in Al Quolanudarian from his parents when he forgot how to speak his native tongue?
Vampire Hunters For Real
Guillermo(Harvey Guillén) slips away under the guise of running an errand(Nandor asks him to pick up a Tide pen; there’s blood on his nice collar) to meet up with the Vampire Hunters. He’s doing it to sabotage any plans they may have in the future. Wait…What? Claude(Craig Robinson) announces they’re going on a hunt tonight?
Familiar House
Shanice(Veronika Slowikowska) goes over plans on the whiteboard. The house has no visitors, no cars, and has adult toppi, topri topiary. Guillermo panics, and tries to dissuade the hunters, to no avail. Derek(Chris Sandiford) has his mom’s van tonight.
Arriving, Guillermo is relieved at first, as it isn’t his vamps’ place. Then panic sets in as he realizes the vampire hunters are going to break and enter into a human home and kill them.
Mailer Daemons As Well As Curses
Nandor decides to drag Laszlo(Matt Berry) and Nadja(Natasia Demetriou) in on the curse. Nadja types away, making up an email address, and it gets returned, scaring the not so tech savvy vampires with a mailer daemon. Desperately, they turn to Colin Robinson(Mark Proksch), who is tech savvy. Colin helps them out, but he also drains them a bit. Everyone is still using aol for their emails.
They Actually Got the Right House
Moving through the house, Guillermo convinces the would be killers that this is a human house-it’s night, and everyone is asleep! There are photos(really, really kitschy ’70s family photos) on the walls. If there were vampires, they’d be awake, he reasons. While upstairs discussing glow in the dark stars, two children rise from their beds. Literally. Like a vampire. Shanice was right, and the hunters aren’t prepared for this first mission.
Peace, Blood, and Happiness
The vampires in this house really are all stuck in the 1970s. Some really groovy vampires attack everyone. Claude shoots himself in the foot with a stake, Tonya(Abigail Savage) nearly locks herself in a closet with a slew of sleeping vampires, and Derek sets in a room and plays guitar until vampires attack him. He digs their taste in music, though. No one makes it out except for Guillermo, who heroically goes back in.
He slays vampires left and right, getting almost everyone out seemingly without much effort. Derek, however, is lost to them. The documentary crew are OK, too. Barely.
They still return his mom’s van, though.
Rejoice! The Curse is Lifted!
Guillermo returns, telling Nandor that the Tide Pens were on sale, so he got more money back than expected.
Taking this to mean the foretold untold riches, the vampires rejoice. They are so happy they don’t even notice Guillermo is covered in blood. They just think it’s groovy tie dye.
Nandor is still shaken, and asks Guillermo to stay with him until he falls asleep. He mentions vampire hunters. He’s mentioned them before, so I wonder if he has an idea about things…Guillermo does as his Master asks, taking a Tide Pen to his bloody shirt as he waits for his Master to sleep.
