Recap: NOS4A2 1X07: Scissors for the Drifter

Vic Loses her “Knife”, But Her Mind is Fine, Linda
Vic(Ashleigh Cummings) wakes up to a ringing phone late at night. Her mother, Linda(Virginia Kull), is watching TV in the living room and doesn’t seem to hear it. Vic answers and it is from Christmasland. The kids are really missing Charlie Manx(Zachary Quinto)-their Father Christmas. They want to know where he is, and blame Vic. It’s kind of Vic’s fault, but Jolene really did it.
As she hangs up the phone, Linda comes in, puzzled as to what her child is doing. She tells her to take her meds and go back to bed.
Waking up the next morning, Vic wants to head to her father and Tiffany’s house. But, no. Linda sold her bike. That means Vic can’t use her powers. She argues with her mother, but dad(Ebon Moss-Bachrach) promises to take her to the bike show and buy her a new one, but nothing seems right.
Angry at her mother for selling her bike, angry at her father for abandoning her, she gets beer at the very not legal bar and proceeds to get drunk. Luckily, Craig(Dalton Harrod) is hanging about, and he takes care of her. This is just after she receives another call from Christmasland; it’s Haley(Darby Camp) and her new friend Millie. Millie Manx(Mattea Conforti).
Bing…Bing…Write it Down
Charlie Manx is in a bad way. Feeble and old, he has to abandon his Wraith and hitchhike in a truck to the nearest phone. He calls Bing(Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) and tells him to come pick him up and pick up a part for the Wraith, and do it toot sweet.
Bing finds the part at the shop where Sherrif Bly(Chris McKinney) had left his business card. Mrs. Myers(Brenda Wehle) remembers Charlie, of course, and alerts the authorities. But as Charlie de-ages in front of her, she drops mostly dead of a heart attack, and the car makes Charlie and Bing invisible to the police. Charlie retrieves the business card, and heads out for revenge.
Wake Up, Maggie
Maggie(Jahkara J Smith) has been using again after getting mowed down, and Sherrif Bly wants to make sure she gets clean. He takes her to his place, leaving a sweet note about how much he believes in her. She finds the note, and searches the house for Bly. Outside, she finds his police car, lights going, with his business card and candy cane on the windshield. She knows its already too late.
Bly Learns How to Play Scissors For the Drifter
Charlie is at the gates of Christmasland, but Bing is not yet ready to go in. He hasn’t met his child quote of 10. Plus, he made Charlie promise to take him to Christmasland as he was lying in a heap.

Charlie opens the gates, his children are awaiting him. The place is beautiful, brimming with Christmas lights and snow and music. Except the moon. It is Charlie’s elderly face staring down at them. He opens his trunk, and pulls out Sherrif Bly. Gassed, he is barely awake. He stumbles to his feet, and sees Daniel(Asher Miles Fallica). Relieved, he tells him he will take him home. He pulls the boy close just as Daniel plunges a large pair of scissors into Bly’s chest. The rest of the children join in, spattering the snow with Bly’s blood before feeding on him. Millie welcomes her father home.
Thoughts on “Scissors for the Drifter”
RIP Bly. Such a sweet man that cared for Maggie. I am guessing this will be a catalyst to get her back in the game.
“I’m a sherrif, howdy, howdy” had me laugh out loud, even as I knew what was coming. It is so reminiscent of this Gary Larson cartoon.
Vic’s knife missing puts both her and Maggie in a bit of a spot.
