Recap: MacGyver 4X03: Kid + Plane + Cable + Truck
MacGyver(Lucas Till) and Desi(Levy Tran) must board a plane mid-air to rescue an incapacitated pilot and his child.
People Argue About Star Wars?
Aboard Russ’s(Henry Ian Cusick) plane, there is a major argument. It’s about movies, Star Wars, to be precise.
Matty Sounds the Alarm
Matty(Meredith Eaton) alerts the team about a possible emergency. A small plane is ghosting Russ’s jet, and the team find out it missed it’s scheduled landing. On inspection, the team finds that the pilot is unconscious.
On board is his young son, Asher Reinman(Christopher Convery). He can’t fly a plane, and can’t hear them. MacGyver improvises a radio, and Asher can now communicate. His father is ill, with a thready heartbeat.
Who Can Fly a Plane?
Desi can fly a Cessna. Great, but how to get to the distressed father/son pair?

Just like aerial refueling! Except, you know, without the equipment, professional skill, or time. Rounding up cable, carbiners, and life vests, Mac now has to teach Asher how to hook the makeshift zipline to the Cessna. Asher says MacGyver reminds him of a guy he knows that can make things on the fly. Bozer(Justin Hires) asks if it is MacGyver. Nope. It’s Jeff. Mysterious, mysterious Jeff.
Desi and MacGyver must both go over to the Cessna. Mac to help the sick man, Desi to fly the plane. Get along, you two. Your breakup wasn’t a good one.
Shakes On a Plane
They zipline over, but the cabinet holding the cable to the jet shakes loose, despite Riley(Tristan Mays) and Russ’s best efforts, and MacGyver almost doesn’t make it. Desi catches him, and they assess the damage. The pilot, and Asher’s father, Ben(Joe Williamson) has indeed had heart trouble, but it wasn’t due to his health. There is an odd rash on his arm. Ben has been poisoned, but by whom-and why?
To Catch a Potential Killer
Riley finds footage of Ben’s last few minutes on the ground. A mechanic oddly touches his arm, right where the rash is located. The mechanic is on the run, and in Bozer’s sight. Matty tells Bozer to stand down, Russ tells him to tackle him. Bozer takes him down, and Matty is not happy.
The reason Ben was targeted is because he gave a new plane design a poor review, finding it flawed. It would cost millions to fix, and the powers that be wanted the report buried.
The Plane’s Not on the Ground Yet
The cabinet that shook free took out the landing gear of the Cessna. The plane can’t land without it. MacGyver gives Riley and Bozer the formula for a foam to make the plane land safely, but a texter and driver in a truck keeps the two from getting the mixture made. Improvising, Mac uses the truck as a substitute for the plane’s landing gear, trusting Desi to land on the truck. Ben is given an antidote, and makes a full recovery*.

Russ Promotes Matty
Having a talk with Matty with what happened with Bozer, Russ surprises Matty. He offers her the lead position. Matty takes the job, and immediately hands Russ a list of materials the team needs.
*No thanks to Jeff, who did nothing.
