Production begins on Da Vinci Code sequel “Inferno”

Inferno

The movie adap of Inferno, the fourth book in the Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown, is heading into production. The blockbuster series starring Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon is skipping book 3, The Lost Symbol, and is going straight to Inferno.

In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces . . . Dante’s Inferno.

Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust . . . before the world is irrevocably altered.

Director Ron Howard has been tweeting lots of behind the scenes and production pics lately that show progress on building miniatures and sets for the movie.

According to that last tweet, things begin in earnest next week with rehearsals and then filming begins in Italy before moving off to various other far-flung locales. Not a surprise since Brown’s books are usually like a breathless, world-wide scavenger hunt!

Alongside Tom Hanks the new movie will star Felicity Jones, Ben Foster, Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and Sidse Babett Knudsen.

Are you a fan of Dan Brown’s books or the movies The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons? Have you read Inferno? What are you most excited for with this movie?
