Sad news for X Men fans, in a recent interview with Larry King, Patrick Stewart has said that neither he nor Ian McKellen will be appearing in the next X Men movie. It’s not definitive as he is quoted as saying “I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters… And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.” but it doesn’t sounds very likely.
X Men: Apocalypse is due to hit screens in May 2016 and will focus on En Sabah Nur, the world’s first mutant. Talk is ongoing about recasting the key roles of Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm (played by Famke Jansen, James Marsden and Halle Berry in the original trilogy) with considerably younger actors so there is not really much surprise to hear that the already cast younger incarnations of Professor Xavier and Magneto (James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender) will be used.
There’s still a chance though that they will appear in other movies, and with the Gambit and Deadpool standalone movies on the horizon, keep your fingers crossed for their return.
