No Post-Credit Scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel's Avengers- Age of Ultron - TV Spot 4 134

How do you top the Shawarma post credit sequence from Avengers for the sequel? Well according to Joss Whedon you don’t. Yes, you are reading this correctly. There will NOT be a post-credit scene at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Whedon and Marvel honcho Kevin Feige told EW that there will be “a short, epilogue-like scene that pops up shortly after the credits start,” but nothing afterwards, thus saving ten minutes of sitting in the dark cursing the morons who are leaving without the best bit (or is that just me that does that?).

Whedon said “It didn’t seem to lend itself in the same way, and we wanted to be true to what felt right.” And added, “There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake- out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!'”

I know this will come as a shock to Marvel fans who have come to expect these tantalising snippets that set up future storylines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe but don’t worry, Whedon and Co still have plenty more to keep us going. It was recently announced that Linda Cardellini and Julie Delpy would both be appearing in the movie but the powers that be are keeping their characters under wraps for now. There’s also going to be some Black Widow backstory (making that recent trailer that gave Johansson’s character the spotlight even cooler) and an appearance from a secret female character – although Feige squashed rumours of it being Captain Marvel he did say, “It’s not a big deal. But it’s a good character.”

So start your speculation engines people, who do you think Cardellini and Delpy will be playing? Do you think one of them might be this “good character” that Kevin Feige spoke of? Let’s hear your theories, hit us in the comments.
