After teasing fans at the xXx: Return of Xander Cage premiere when asked about her return, Nina Dobrev today confirmed she will be back.
She posted a shot on instagram of a script, with the caption “I know it’s Thursday, but this is not a TBT” and the hastags #BackOnSet and #TVDForever.
Her return has been the subject of constant speculation, ever since her departure at the end of the show’s 6th season. Her contract included a clause that she could return for the final season, and now we know she has made use of it.
There have been a few sightings of Elena since the end of season 6, but they have all been flashbacks using pre-recorded material. The only exception was the use of Elena’s voice at the end of season 7 when Sibyl lured Damon into the vault of the Armory. That was a new voice-over recorded by Dobrev.
Now over to you TVD fans, lets get speculating. How do you think Elena will return in the end? Since the curse is predicated on Bonnie’s life – is it time to say goodbye forever to the Bennett Witch? Or will the show pull out something crazy in the finale moments and find another way to bring Elena back? We want to hear your thoughts!
