The audience at the Javit’s center had a real treat given to them last week when not only did Jeph Loeb sneak out 3 of the 4 defenders (Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage), but also brought most of the cast of the hit series Daredevil out on stage.

Joining moderator Loeb was show superstar Charlie Cox (Matthew Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), Elodie Yung (Elektra), show runners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez and Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada.

Along with seeing highlights from Season One, the audience was also given a sneak peek at the teaser for Season Two, which included the introduction to Elektra and The Punisher, Daredevil’s red suit and saw the return of Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple).

There is still not a specific premiere date from Season Two, just that it will be released in Fall 2016.

I, for one, will be binge watching Season One again before Season Two airs.

Below is an excerpt from the panel (transcribed and audio clip).  Following the audio clip from the panel is a portion of the Q&A from the audience.

Petrie:   I think everyday you go into work and it’s such a blessing.  All of us, across the board, the cast, the crew, the writers, the Marvel guys, the Netflix guys…we love two things.  and one of them is Matt Murdock and the other is the world that Matt Murdock navigates.  And last year, Steven, Drew, what a great job of introducing that world.  And now with the Punisher and Elektra, we get to test it and take it further and darker and more emotional and just take it where..you know I got to tell you we’re fans too so the stuff that you want to see, we want to see, and we can’t wait to show it to you.

Loeb:  Elodie.  What’s it like playing Elektra?

Young:  It’s intense, exciting. I couldn’t be happier.

Loeb: You also, just so the audience knows, you can kick ass too.

Elodie: Absolutely

Loeb:  In real life as well.  Tell us a little bit about some of the things that you are adept at.

Elodie:  I’m a black belt in karate.  And I actually booked the job because Jeph Loeb asked me “Are you really a martial artist?  Can you really do something like that?” Yeah basically I can kick your ass.

Loeb:  Speaking of kicking ass.  Elden.  Jon this is a part that you very early on, even before we decided that we were going to do this, was something that your guys reached out to us and you and I had conversations about.  This is a role that really meant something to you, a part that you really wanted to play.  Can you talk about what it’s like to play Frank Castle?

Bernthal:  Look I know how important this character is to you guys and I know how important this show is to you guys.  And I know how important he is to law enforcement, to military.  And I look at this as a huge honor, a huge responsibility and I give you my absolute word that I’ll gonna give everything that I have.

Loeb: Elden, you’re in this other little franchise called The Hunger Games, and yet as you can tell there is much love for the fog.  So how is your life?  Is your life different now that you’re foggy?  Do people yell foggy at you in the street?  What’s going on?

Henson: Yes people yell at me quite a bit.  What’s funny is a lot of people get really mad at me.  Strangers will stop me in the street and ask me “Why are you mad at your friend?” I have to explain to them I don’t actually write the show.  (Thanks the audience for coming)

Loeb:  Is there anyone in this room that doesn’t have a crush on Deb?  I just want to know.  So Deb, when we left, you and Mr Murdock were looking into each others eyes and I guess what they (the audience) want to know is this season are we going to see a little more of Matthew Murdock and Karen Page., besides being around the office?

Woll: Besides being around the office?  Um..yeah, absolutely.  I mean I don’t know how far I can go really talking about specifics but I will say that Charlie Cox over here is one of my most favorite people I have ever gotten to work with he is absolutely incredible.

Loeb: Charlie, I think they like you.  I know you well enough to know that you ride with that very well. and that you, in addition to playing blind, in addition to the flawless American accent, in addition to going out and doing incredible stunt work and working ridiculous hours, all of those things.  What have you learned from playing Matthew, what has it been for  you this past year and now going into the next season?

Cox:  I think I spoke about this a little last season about my apprehension about playing someone who is known as the man without fear.  just because I worry that portraying someone who isn’t capable of feeling fear on a television show is not that interesting.  I think that you need to see people.  It robs you of one of my favorite characteristics in people, which is courage. And I think that to answer your question, the thing I’ve learned the most from working with these amazing people and playing this extraordinary character who is changing my life, is courage.  how much courage it takes to be a vulnerable human but also a vulnerable superhero.  And it’s a cool journey to be on.
