Daredevil picked up for Season 2

Marvels Original Netflix series Daredevil

With the great response that Netflix’s new live action series Daredevil has received, the question was being tossed around as to if a Season 2 would air.  Well, we don’t have to wait any longer, we have our answer.  YES! Season 2 is on schedule to air in 2016.

According to EW.com, the show has received its order for the second season, however, the main showrunner, Steven DeKnight, will not be returning.  Writers Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who previously worked on Season 1 with DeKnight, will take over the helm.

So far, the reviews have come in with high praise for the series.  DeKnight’s creativity has brought Marvel to a whole new level.  Let’s hope, with the second season and DeKnight’s departure, Petrie and Ramirez can keep the momentum going.  Another thing I am hoping for is the return of all the current cast. Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) are amazing in their roles. The supporting cast of Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) are also brilliant.  I could not picture anyone taking their place.

Netflix is already on board to release more Marvel shows, such as Jessica JonesLuke Cage, and Iron Fist.  After these shows have their debut, the rumor is that they want to create a series called The Defenders.  The plans for this show would bring all the superheros from these series together, almost mirroring Marvel’s successful Avengers franchise.
