So after endless speculation and a seemingly never ending list of actors who were being “considered” for the role it seems that Marvel have finally settled on an actor to play the Sorceror Supreme in Sherlock himself, Benedict Cumberbatch.
Marvel were supposedly in talks with Joaquin Phoenix but those fell through and after that a string of names including Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, Colin Farrell and Keanu Reeves was bandied about the internet but it seems that the studio have settled on Cumberbatch and they are in talks now.
The British actor is no stranger to genre movies, having starred in Star Trek Into Darkness and the Hobbit movies, as well as his well known role as the titular sleuth in Sherlock.
