Made In Abyss “The Return” Review

Made In Abyss “The Return” is the ninth episode from the second season of the Made In Abyss anime. After episode 8’s explanations and connections being fully made and explained. Following the present timeline fully this time Reg returns to the village with Faputa’s arm, now aware that he promised to Faputa to use his incinerator to destroy the shield guarding the village’s entrance, which will allow her to enter. As Reg reunites with Riko, Wazukyan arrives to congratulate them. However, Riko surmises that all of the villagers, including Wazukyan, secretly desire to leave the village so they can continue to journey deeper into the abyss, and Wazukyan is trying to carry that out by having Riko use a Cradle of Desire to wish for a way for them to leave. However, as they debate this, the village’s guardian Juroimoh awakens to forcibly take Faputa’s arm. Wazukyan kidnaps Vueko while Reg is forced to fight Juroimoh. However, Juroimoh proves too difficult for Reg to fight on his own, so he is forced to use his Incinerator, which incapacitates Juroimoh and breaches a hole in the village barrier, allowing Faputa to enter and begin attacking the villagers. Meanwhile, Nanachi awakens from her slumber and Belaf informs her that Faputa has arrived.

Review

Damn! And I thought it couldn’t get any more messed up! The set up for this whole episode has been so good that I’m not entirely sure I agree with Reg’s decision to allow Faputa into the village when the season started I distrusted everyone in the village and now I really don’t want to see them hurt. Reg  didn’t really have a choice though I suppose, I just worry now how anyone will be able to handle Faputa. She’s beyond reason and has every right to be.

Poor Vueko having to not only re-live her rape but then be kinda blamed for it by Wazukyan has got me hating him even more than I did and I already knew he was sketchy. It’s like he knows she’ll blame herself but also knew that Reg would choose to let the Princess in so he’s got his own little plan already forming and I do not trust him one little bit.
