Love, Victor : Sincerely, Rahim Round Table Review

We are back again with another round table review for Episode 6 “Sincerely, Rahim” from our beloved show “Love, Victor”. Let’s see what’s gonna happen this time. Are you guys ready for some more Creakwood drama? Joining me (Rike) on this round table review are Serena, Lena and Jen. Let’s do this!

Love, Victor : Sincerely, Rahim Synopsis

Pilar’s (Isabella Ferreira) new friend Rahim (Anthony Keyvan) reaches out to Victor (Michael Cimino) for guidance. Victor and Isabel (Ana Ortiz) reach a boiling point.

Your opinion on Love, Victor “Sincerely, Rahim” in general?

S: Excuse me while I dry my eyes. I did not expect Love, Victor to give me the ending scene it did. This episode was great! I don’t think the title really fits it since I feel like Rahim was only a small part of the episode. He was important though. His visit finally started the long overdue conversation that Victor and Isa needed to have. I’m glad that Mia (Rachel Hilson) is finally opening up to both Andrew (Mason Gooding) and Veronica (Sophia Bush), her attitude has been annoying and I’m glad she finally figured out why and wants to change it. Felix’s (Anthony Turpel) entire story made me so sad. He is one of the best characters and deserves the absolute world and seeing him break down in the end over what was happening to his life made me bawl my eyes out too. This is a great episode.

L: This is an intense episode. I like Rahim. Still rolling my eyes at Isa – partially. Benji (George Sear) is being a bit of an annoying impatient child. And just Felix … I mean. Serena already said it all I think. We are all you trying to be brave for a lot of this episode – damn that song!

J: I loved this episode. Definitely one of the best ones this season, especially the ending, like the others have already said. It definitely is an emotional one. My highlights of this episode were Felix’s story but also the introduction of Rahim. Two very different plots but both just as equally important and touching.

R: What a rollercoaster ride. I wasn’t prepared at all. The end still makes me cry every single time watching it. However, I loved the fact that we finally got to see more of Rahim. Can’t wait to see more of his storyline. Also Veronica and Mia having some cute moments together and Isabel finally having an important conversation with Victor. Long overdue if you ask me. But overall another great episode!

In this episode we get to see more of Rahim’s character, who turns to Victor for advice. Your first impression?

S: Rahim gave me ‘more aware Victor season 1’-vibes if you know what I mean. He knows he’s gay, but he is also struggling to come out to his parents because of his religious background. I feel like Rahim wasn’t necessarily a big character introduction for the rest of the season, but he is definitely a great addition to the rest of them. Also he is a BlackPink and musical stan so we gotta love him. I’m glad he got to get the advice from Isa since it forces Isa to open up about her struggle to fully accept Victor.

L: I like him. I’m glad Pilar has a great friend like Rahim. Interesting that they turned it around and are now making Victor into a semi-Simon. Honestly I do think that Rahim is a helpful character addition to the plot in this episode and the growth of some characters.

J: When I first heard that a new character would be introduced, I honestly wasn’t sure what to think or expect. Rahim however, exceeded all of my expectations and thoughts within a few minutes. He seems to be a friendly and caring person and like Lena has said, I love how Victor gets to be kind of a Simon for someone else. I’m curious as to how their friendship will progress over time and if Victor really will take on sort of a mentor role for his new friend.

R: He seems to be really lovely and caring and the fact that he’s kinda best friends with Pilar is even better. I mean, who wouldn’t wanna be best friends with her. Really enjoyed watching the scenes we got so far. I do feel like Rahim and Victor are gonna create some sort of extra special bond. In whatever way it might be. Pretty good addition to the cast and I can’t wait to see some more Rahim stuff.

Love, Victor Sincerely Rahim

Things seem to reach a boiling point with Felix, Dawn (Betsy Brandt) and Lake (Bebe Wood). In the end we saw Felix having a breakdown moment before hugging Isabel. Is there any hope for a Happy End?

S: Felix better have a happy end or I will sue the writer of this season. Now if we get realistic for a second the odds of him getting that happy end before the end of this season aren’t very likely. Felix has unfortunately been in this situation with his mom for a very long time and it is very unfortunate that this has been exposed to the social services because like Felix said. They now control his life. It’s a very sad fact of his situation and I really hope things won’t get worse for him. I’m kind of annoyed with how this story played out after Lake told her mom. It is not her fault that Dawn had an episode right in the middle of the news station, but her and Lake their offered help certainly didn’t help the situation in the end. I hope Isabel stays welcoming to him once she learns of his situation. Felix needs friends and people to be there for him and I really hope that the show keeps it realistic like they have been about this topic. I also hope the writers didn’t turn this into the gateway to bring Pilar her crush on Felix back up while he needs to stay with them.

L: There is always hope for a happy end. If you don’t have hope, what do you have? Besides that I think everything I could express has already been said and it stands as a pretty strong point and portrayal in the show itself already anyway. This family needed help and I hope this works out for the better for them.

J: I do think that there’s hope for a happy ending. It is important to keep thinking positive and even though you also do have to be realistic, I think that things will look brighter sometime. I’m glad that Felix has some supportive friends at this stage. Friends that don’t give up on him and clearly love him no matter what.

R: Right now it seems to be getting worse every single episode. I hope Victor’s family will be able to make him smile again. At least a tiny little bit. A sad Felix isn’t good for my emotional self. Not at all. He deserves to be happy. Him and his mom need help obviously but I do hope that it won’t end even worse. I’m trying not to think of the worst options. It’s going to be fine. Please. I’m crossing all my fingers and whatever else is there to cross. Just gimme some happy Felix with his mom. Don’t need anything else right now.

Benji seems to be pretty much cold and passive-aggressive in this episode. Do you think he’s jealous that Victor’s mum accepted Rahim immediately? Or does this have to do something with what happened in the past?

S: I think Benji is still quite upset with how Victor and him have been treated by Isabel and rightfully so. Benji is watching his boyfriend hope for progress that is barely happening and he only hears what happens. It’s clear he has an opinion about Isabel that isn’t very positive and I feel like this will remain that way until Benji and Isabel are in the same room again with a positive conversation.

L: Benji is frustrated with how Isabel is behaving and honestly SAME. Victor is not at fault though for being hopeful and he should definitely not constantly be on the receiving end of Benji’s temper. It is frustrating and infuriating to see people you love suffer, put on a brave face and celebrate every mm/inch step in the right direction – I think that might be what he is feeling as well, on top of clearly not being accepted by her himself. Something has to balance the scale between these two.

J: It’s definitely not easy for Benji and I understand him being upset. It’s hard for him being around Victor’s family and not feeling accepted, while all of Victor’s other friends are being treated almost as if they were part of the family, too. Surely Benjis behaviour definitely has not been the greatest, but I can’t blame him for feeling frustrated at all. What he needs is a good long talk with Victor, but we all know that those two unfortunately aren’t the greatest when it comes to discussing topics like that.

R: Don’t know what’s going on in Benji’s head right now but this behavior ain’t it at all. I mean; I understand it that he doesn’t want Victor getting too excited about his mom. But being such a pain in the ass (at least slightly) really ain’t it at all. Drama in paradise incoming? Who knows. If he won’t change his behavior I don’t know what’s gonna happen. But maybe he just has his period. I’m joking, or am I?
