Jamie Dornan Cast in Indie Film ‘Untogether’

Green Light International will be introducing the Indie Project Untogether, to buyers this month at the Toronto International Film Festival, with production slated to begin October 17.  Best-selling author Emma Forrest will direct the project, which is based on her own screenplay.  This will be the first film that she has taken directorial control over.

Rumored to star in the project is Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey, The Fall), Ben Mendelssohn (Bloodline, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and real life sisters Jemina and Lola Kirke.  Jemima is best known for starring in the HBO series Girls while Lola’s film credits include Gone Girl  and Mozart in the Jungle.

Untogether follows the affair between Andrea (Jemima Kirke), a former teen prodigy turned heroin addict who is trying to be a writer now that she’s sober, and Nick (Dornan), a writer who’s found success with his memoir of war time bravery, which sees him showered in wealth and women. Meanwhile, Andrea’s little sister Tara (Lola Kirke) finds her solid relationship with her older boyfriend Martin (Mendelsohn) shaken when she is drawn to a charismatic Rabbi with an even larger age gap. Seeing as though a few rising stars from some pretty big franchises/series are involved, it will be interesting to see how this fares with the buyers at TIFF.  Indie projects seem to be on the rise lately, with a lot of actors/actresses wanting to work with well-known directors, but not in the blockbuster spotlight, to make a name for themselves.  The biggest obstacle that stands in the way besides the backing is the lack of theater presence and the increase of straight to VOD sales with these projects.  Personally I tend to head off towards the indie flicks because they are more diverse and eclectic, not taking on the remakes/reboots that a lot of Hollywood studios seem to be steering towards today.  So, here’s to hoping and good luck to all involved in this project.
