Indiegogo Phenomenon “Jawbreakers” Comic Picked Up By Antarctic Press

“Jawbreakers” Comic Picked Up By Antarctic Press

Richard Meyer’s Indiegogo funded one shot graphic novel smashes expectations and picks up a publisher.

Jawbreakers

Jawbreakers: Lost Souls by Richard Meyer, Jon Malin, and Brett Smith

Starting out with an Indiegogo goal of $5,000.00, the Richard C. Meyer comic Jawbreakers: Lost Souls reached a staggering $206,000.00 by the end of it’s campaign. You read that right-$206,000.00.

With every stretch goal, Richard raised the perks including adding more pages, posters, and an exclusive cover.

Jon Malin(Cable) is the artist, with Brett Smith(Harley Quinn) coloring the one shot. Ethan Van Sciver(Green Lantern, Cyberfrog) will be doing the cover for the Indiegogo perk.

This campaign has placed the graphic novel in the top ten comic sales. Needless to say this is an incredible feat for relative unknown Meyer.

Antarctic Press announced late this week that they will be publishing the controversial title. It will, however, have a different cover than the Indiegogo release.

Written by Meyer(Diversity &Comics), the story follows a team of ex superheroes out to rescue a “monster” from a warlord. The diverse team has a character for everyone from X-Men to Hellblazer fans, with the grounded reality of The Boys.

Like it or not, this release is the shot in the arm the comic industry sorely needs. It is proof that an individual with a good story can resonate with an audience ready for more than established characters.

Congratulations to Richard, Ethan, Jon, and Brett!
