Ian Somerhalder to Star in Netflix Vampire Drama V-Wars
A year after The Vampire Diaries finished, news has reached us that the man who brought Damon Salvatore to life isn’t quite done with vampires. We have learned that Ian Somerhalder is to star in a brand new Netflix drama called V-Wars.
Adapted from the IDW comics of the same name, the story centres on two friends – Luther Swann and Michael Fayne. Swann (Somerhalder) is a doctor whose friend contracts a mysterious virus that turns him into a vampire. Swann attempts to research the virus in an attempt to find a way to save his friend. Meanwhile Michael tries to become a leader in the vampire community as the two sides vie for the upper hand.
The V-Wars comic series was written by Jonathan Maberry, William Laurin and Glenn Davis will serve as showrunners. Brad Turner (Stargate, Stargate Atlantis) will direct and exec produce.
Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the series but there is no word on a premiere date yet.
