Director Guillermo Del Toro provided a brief update on Dark Universe or Justice League Dark. Guillermo del Toro is still planning on showing the world his take on DC Entertainment’s supernatural characters — although whether or not he’ll be able to do more than contribute the screenplay for the movie is a question of timing, apparently.
“We turned in our [script] revision, and it all depends on the calendar, you know?” the Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rimdirector told IGN. “If I can do it, I would love to d it. And I think that the screenplay and the characters are very solid.”
“You cannot say, ‘Yeah, I’ll do it after I do this,’ or ‘I have the first season of [del Toro’s FX series] The Strain,'” he explained, adding that the movie “needs to fall into the plan of the DC Universe.” He added that, if he wasn’t available, “somebody will do it.”
Del Toro’s calendar does look full in the near future. Following this year’s release of Crimson Peak (out Oct. 16). Although Dark Universe hasn’t been officially announced by Warners, it’s worth noting that DC Entertainment is replacing the Justice League Dark comic book series with one titled Dark Universe in June, featuring many of the characters expected to show up in del Toro’s movie.
