Fast & Furious 8 Officially Announced by Universal

fast and furious

Universal Studios has made many newsworthy announcements at CinemaCon 2015, one of the biggest probably being that they plan on continuing the Fast and Furious franchise, by producing the 8th installment.  Furious 7, released this year, has been Universal Studios highest grossing film on an initial release, pulling in over $1 billion dollars thus far.

Vin Diesel was on hand today, at Caesars Palace, to make the announcement. The official release date is set for April 17, 2017.  Vin Diesel said, “We’re gonna make the best movie you’ve ever seen.”  Rumor has it that the next film will be based on a NYC story line.

As for how the franchise will survive with the early demise of star Paul Walker, we will have to wait and see.
