Designated Survivor Season 3 | Review

Welcome back Fandemaniacs! It’s been a hell of a ride for us to finally get Season 3 of Designated Survivor! But Netflix made it happen and damn.. this season had a LOT of stuff to give us don’t you think? For everyone out there who hasn’t watched the season yet – SPOILERS ARE COMING YOUR WAY!

Designated Suvivor Season 3

Kiefer Sutherland – Anthony Edwards

The Beginning

To be honest.. at first I wasn’t sure what to think of this new season. Don’t get me wrong.. I was happy that we all got another season but the first few episodes I didn’t know what to think. We got a few new faces in the White House and at the end of the season they blew my mind, but we are at the beginning now aren’t we?!

Beside the cast we got to enjoy since season one like Kiefer Sutherland (President Tom Kirkman), Kal Penn (Seth Wright), Maggie Q (Hannah Wells), Adan Canto (Aaron Shore) and Italia Ricci (Emily Rhodes), we got a bunch of new faces in Season 3.

Anthony Edwards as Mars Harper

We probably know him best from is old times in the hit show ER! I personally think it was AMAZING to add him to the DS cast! He played his role perfectly and his character got a damn hard twist that I wasn’t expecting in the beginning. As Chief of Staff he puts some fresh air into the White House and I was more than happy to get to know his personal story as well.

Elena Tovar as Isabel Pardo

At first I definitely underastemated her character! In the first few episodes I wasn’t sure what her role in all this was but after some time she grew and got a big part on screen. In the beginning I just thought she was the new girlfriend from Aaron Shore BUT I was totally wrong. I don’t want to get into her or their story too much.. You just have to watch it to fully understand it!

Benjamin Charles Watson as Dontae Evans

Dontae worked his way up in this season. Starting really small with just doing his work to helping the President to win the Election AND to show off Lorraine.. just AMAZING! Here we also get a glimpse into his personal life outsite the White House – definitely another twist I didn’t expect there.

Julie White as Lorraine Zimmer

Very twisted character in my opinion. I know from the beginning that something wasn’t right with here. I just didn’t know HOW MUCH was wrong with her. I won’t spoil anything here because then it wouldn’t be so much fun to watch!

Jamie Clayton as Sasha Booker

VERY happy we got the character of Kirkmans Sister-in-Law this season. Bringing a transgender character into the season brought a twist for Kirkmans Election BUT to see how far Sasha came and also Kirkman, made me very very happy.

Review – Season 3

As I said before.. in the beginning I wasn’t sure what to expect or what to think. The first 3 episodes didn’t get me as hooked on the show as the other two seasons before. But with all those new faces and characters it got really interesting very fast!

What I LOVED about this season was, that we got a lot of background story especially from the new characters! We got to know their personal life, their private struggles and how to deal with all kinds of stuff, like we all do.

What truly inspired me was adding the character of Dontae and Sasha. With those two characters they got into a topic that is important and totally real life related. With Dontae being gay and Sasha being trans we got a lot of different kind of views in Season 3. This was definitely a BIG plus!

I have to mention Hannah Wells aka Maggie Q – she truly rocked through the first two seasons I can’t deny that. Her role in Season 3 was more than dissapointing. She kind of got her own little story with discovering this terroristic virus and finding the people behind it. They killed her off after a few episodes and then the whole virus thing went his way up to the President. That dissapointed me. Hannah not having any interaction with the White House or the President himself. I think she would’ve deserverd a more tragic death scene.. the one we got was just dissapointing.

Over all I am more than happy how this season turned out. It was amazing acting, followed by a great storyline and characters that were truly thought through! With that cliffhanger at the end I am hoping for a Season 4 of course! Let’s see if Netflix will make it happen!

If you haven’t watched Designated Survivor Season 3 yet – go to Netflix and binge watch the hell out of this gripping. heartbreaking and amazing 10 episodes, totally worth watching!
