This week, Matt Ryan will be reprising his role as John Constantine on a hugely-anticipated episode of The CW’s Arrow.

During Constantine‘s thirteen-episode run, the possibility that the character might tie into the world of Arrow and The Flash was often raised — although producers for any of the shows stopped short of confirming or denying that the shows shared a universe.

It wasn’t until after NBC passed on giving Constantine a second season that The CW became involved — first as a potential home for more Constantine and then, when that didn’t happen, by inviting Ryan to bring the character to Arrow.

Meanwhile, us fans — us “Hellblazers” — have not lost faith that we could still see more of Ryan’s Constantine, either on The CW shows or as a standalone series of his own again. While showrunners, the press and others have seemingly lost faith, the Hellblazers have continued to campaign online — with a renewed enthusiasm and sense of purpose this week, since they see Arrow as the best chance to prove to The CW (and whoever else might be paying attention) that there’s a market for this character.

During an interview with ComicBook.com this week, they asked Ryan to share his thoughts on those super-fans, many of whom have now followed him to Broadway, where he’s performing in Therese Raquin alongside Pirates of the Caribbean star Kiera Knightley.

Here’s what he had to say:
