Con*Quest Journals Planner Review

So this is something a bit different for FANdemonium Network, but bear with us cos we think you’ll like it. Years ago a company called Con*Quest Journals came to our attention as they were making a licenced replica of John Winchester’s Journal from Supernatural. It was meticulously researched and frankly absolutely beautiful. I coveted one but never actually splashed out. Mostly because I wasn’t 100% in the SPN fandom anymore (I can hear the cries of heresy from here).

That remained the case for a little while until Shelley and her company started moving into other fandoms. Towards the end of 2019 they announced the launch of a series Harry Potter themed planners. And that was it. I was sold. The first one that became available was the Harry Potter Celestial Undated Planner, and I snapped that up!

Harry Potter Celestial Undated Planner

The Con*Quest Journals Harry Potter Celestial Undated Planner is simpler than some of the planners they offer. It’s a 3 ring binder format so the pages are moveable/removable if the desire takes you. The “celestial” part of the name refers to the month dividers, each of which feature a Patronus image on a celestial background, as well as the beautiful front cover.

Each month begins with a Monthly Goals page, laid out like Quidditch Goals, which I absolutely love. Next comes a month at a glance page, where you can put all your important dates. The rest of the month is laid out as Week To View, with a space for notes after Sunday. At the end of each month is a sweet Marauders themed page. I’ve been using these to look back at my goals and gauge my progress.

It also comes with a page marker, lined and dotted pages, and 2 sheets of Harry Potter themed stickers. There’s an elastic strap closure and a pen loop in back.

Something missing

I do love the Celestial, and it’s great for personal stuff but there isn’t that much room for personalisation. A couple of stickers and you’ve used up half the page. So to keep track of all the OTHER stuff I have going on, and get a bit more creative with it, I’ve switched to one of the 2020 House Planners. I also found, as you will see in the image below, that having the planner be undated, but starting every month section with a Monday meant either leaving out days, or relabelling some months so that the dates fit.

My “re-labelled” month page for March

Having now transferred over to the dated planner I see that they have a similar issue, but instead carry over sometimes entire weeks into the next month to make them fit.

2020 Hufflepuff Planner

I really wanted to get this planner after seeing some of Alana King’s Plan With Me videos on youtube. She’s so creative, and I figured it would be a way for me to get organised AND unleash my creative side a little more. The wonderful Jenn again hooked me up and sent it to me (along with a bunch of other stuff) before Christmas. Alas, some weird shenanigans with the USPS and Royal Mail meant the package never arrived. She tried again and this time it got here. Sadly I’d already missed a month of the year but given the quality and volume of content in this planner I don’t think you’d notice.

The 2020 Hufflepuff Planner (yes, the other houses are available too) is gorgeous. The spiral bound, lay flat design makes it easy to fill in and decorate pages. It kicks off with a 2020 Goals section (complete with those Quidditch goalposts) and a Reminders section before you get 2020 and 2021 year at a glance pages.

After that are 6 bullet pages before you get in to the planner proper. As per one of Alana’s videos, I’ve set up the first two of these pages as a Vision Board for 2020.

My “Vision Board” pages, yes those are pictures of Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Cox from the stage door at Betrayal on Broadway.

Each month begins with a page for Important Dates, a space for To Do lists and reminders, as well as an organization page. Overleaf from that is a month at a glance double page spread. My favourite thing about these pages is that, as well as regular holidays, you also get Harry Potter character birthdays and some HP inspired images dotted around.

Weekly spreads

Each weekly spread page has 3 boxes per day, in a vertical format, with space down the left hand side, and across the bottom for notes, reminders, that week’s to do lists, or to decorate however you fancy. I’ve taken to putting favourite quotes I’ve heard in TV shows, movies or even life across the bottom. I’ve found a reason to enjoy Mondays again, since it means I get to plan out the week ahead!

The planner ends with 4 lined pages and a 2020 Year in Review section. There are also FOUR PAGES of Hufflepuff themed stickers at the back to help you decorate your planner.

All four House journals, the Celestial planner and more are available direct from Con*Quest Journals’s website. They currently have a MASSIVE 50% off all their planners, so there has never been a better time to snap yours up. They do only ship to the US and Canada from their website. If you are international you can buy from Amazon. Oh and if you end up with a planner sticker and washi tape obsession like I have… sorry not sorry. Welcome to the planner club!
