2015 is in full swing; and New Year’s Eve, Walt Disney Pictures unveiled a pair of TV trailers for its live-action Cinderella movie that had (appropriately) emphasized the midnight deadline for the spell cast by Cinderella’s famous Fairy Godmother in the story. Helena Bonham Carter (who also costarred in Disney’s live-action Alice in Wonderland and Lone Ranger) plays the magical character in director Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming rendition of the centuries-old fairy tale. Cate Blanchett also features prominently in both new Cinderella previews (see above and below), playing Lady Tremaine, the not so kindly stepmother determined to prevent Ella (Lily James) from being happy. Meanwhile, Richard Madden appears here as the (especially bright-eyed) Prince Charming, along with Nonso Anozie – who, like Madden, is also a Game of Thrones alum – as the noble Captain, helping the Prince in his search for Ella after she disappears from the ball.
Cinderella opens in U.S. theaters on March 13th, 2015.
