Yeah, it’s a good time to be a fan of comic book adaptations, but in case you think it’s all just about Batman v Superman and the sprawling plans coming out of Marvel for their third phase…there are other things going on. Most exciting of which for me right now is the news that Fox have closed a deal with Ryan Reynolds to play Deadpool in a solo movie.
Reynolds has already played Wade Wilson in 2009’s Wolverine: Origins and I personally thought he was the best thing in it.
There will obviously need to be a bit of revision of that storyline (something Fox don’t seem averse to doing, after all X-Men: Days of Future Past eliminated the events of X-Men Last Stand from the timeline) since you can’t really have a movie about a character known as The Merc with the Mouth if his mouth has been sewn shut.
If any more confirmation was needed, Reynolds himself tweeted this…
Uh… It's Chimichanga Time. pic.twitter.com/ZlknW4HOtj

Oh, and in case you missed it earlier this year, here’s the ‘leaked’ test footage of Reynolds as Deadpool (WARNING: Contains violence and strong language, but hey, that’s Deadpool). I’ll leave you to make up your own mind but I’m gonna be stockpiling chimichangas ahead of the February 2016 release date.
