Synopsis
Mateo (Johnathan Nieves) grapples with the aftermath of his actions. Josefina (Jessica Garza) confides in Sister Molly (Kerry Bishé), who’s shocked to discover Josefina is Tiago’s sister. Tiago (Daniel Zovatto) and Lewis (Nathan Lane)’s investigation takes them from the Sonoratown slums to the Vega House. Dottie (Lin Shaye) befriends Brian (Kyle McArthur) as Alex (Natalie Dormer) lectures Townsend (Michael Gladis) about his personal life. Peter (Rory Kinnear) receives an alarming phone call from Elsa and Tiago confronts Mateo.

Tiago
This episode seemed, more than ever, to be about the conflict central in Tiago’s life. Between his home life, his work, and his relationship with Sister Molly things are really beginning to wear on him and he’s getting a little frayed around the edges. This shows during one interrogation that actually made me go “DAMN Tiago”.
I absolutely adored the visit to the Vega House and the scene between Maria (Adriana Barraza) and Lewis. In a show that can be anything but, it was really rather wholesome and sweet.
Magda/Elsa/Rio/Alex
Natalie Dormer once again aces this episode. We see all four of her faces in this episode but the standout for me was her opening scene as Rio with Mateo. Her speech that gives this episode its title is incendiary! Not to mention what follows.
We don’t see much of Alex this week, just enough for her to warn Townsend not to talk about certain boys in public. While I still think he’s a pretty horrendous excuse for a human being, there’s a moment with Townsend this week that genuinely made me smile.
Elsa steps up her manipulation of Peter this episode, forcing him into a situation that could have dire repercussions. After their tryst last week he seems to be basically her puppet at this point which is exactly what she wants.
I think Magda’s choices in who to manipulate to her own ends is going to be key to how her plan develops. I think Mateo could be the weak link in her plans IF his family come together.
Sister Molly
Sister Molly puzzles me. I don’t think any of the characters she has met so far have met the REAL Sister Molly. I’m starting to think maybe Haslitt was the only one who knew the real her and maybe that has something to do with his death? Although that’s pure speculation. I did like Molly’s interaction with Josefina this week, it was interesting to see her reaction when she found out Josefina and Tiago are related.
One thing I do know is that Miss Adelaide (Amy Madigan) is probably the scariest thing in this show, and it’s nothing to do with being supernatural!
