It was announced earlier today that Melissa Benoist has been cast in the CBS pilot Supergirl. Benoist, of Glee and Whiplash fame, beat out other contenders including Claire Holt of The Vampire Diaries and Elizabeth Lail of Once Upon a Time.
Supergirl, which will be an hour long series, is based on the characters from DC Comics featuring Kara Zor-El (Superman’s cousin), played by Benoist, who comes to earth after the destruction of Krypton.
