Attack On Titan “Children Of The Forest” Review
Attack On Titan “Children Of The Forest” is the 72nd episode of the Attack On Titan series. Much like episode 71 it’s a tension building episode. However, with this episode the tension builds to an almost boiling point in more than one scene.
Plot
The episode opens in Rakugo village, where Connie is from, and shows the attack on it. The gas, infused with Zeke’s spinal fluid that was spread throughout the village. Turning everyone into a titan the second Zeke used his “voice” to activate the fluid. Then it cuts to Levi listening to Zeke’s story on how he attacked the village. Levi makes it clear that he believes Zeke has no regard for human life.
Meanwhile Gabi and Falco (still disguised as one of the Blouse kids) show up at the restaurant that Niccolo works at. Niccolo is thrilled to see Mr. Blouse again. But Gabi and Falco reading the situation all wrong go to find Niccolo and Gabi goes ham. Telling him how she murdered Sasha and going on one of her “we’ll kill all the devils” rants again. Niccolo fully loses it and attacks Gabi with a wine bottle, Falco gets in the way and gets the brunt of it though.
It’s then that it’s revealed that the wine has Zeke’s spinal fluid in it (at least, Niccolo thinks) and he’s been ordered by Yelena to give it only to the higher ups in the army. Eren shows up in the room where Gabi, Mikasa and Armin are. With a massive gash on his hand.
Levi learns of Eren’s escape and betrayal from last episode and starts to doubt why the hell he protected him so strongly in the first place.
Review
This is probably one of the strongest politically motivated episode of Attack On Titan. It’s tense but has enough drama to really make the viewer question what’s going on. The Yeagerists seem to be controlling everything now. Thinks look bleak for the more peace loving Eldian’s and eventually it’s clear they’re going to have to choose a side. Who will choose which side? What has Eren got to say to Mikasa and Armin that’s so desperate he had to show up in person?
I cannot wait for the next episode!
