Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Week | Explore Ancient Greece Like Never Before | Characters

Assassin‘s Creed Odyssey Week| Explore Ancient Greece Like Never Before | Characters

We all here at FANdemonium Network love a huge bunch of TV shows, movies and comics. After a while we came up with the idea of trying to cover games as well. I for myself am a huge fan of PS4 games and that’s why we thought this could be a great idea. After E3 2018 happening a few days back, I’m extremely excited to talk about the new Assassin‘s Creed game that’s coming this year. So keep following if you’re a gaming geek (even if you are not, maybe that will change soon) and enjoy the ride into Ancient Greece with Assassin‘s Creed Odyssey!

What can we expect?

As many of you I got pretty damn excited when I read the news about a new assassin’s creed game that will already launch in OCTOBER! After we got a teaser trailer we have the full information from E3 2018 and now know a lot about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

The Game is set in 431 BC in Ancient Greece and follows the story of either Alexios or Kassandra – the choice is yours. 17 years after they’re cast out of Sparta and left for dead following a family tragedy and a dark prophecy from the Oracle of Delphi. The story already does sound amazing BUT what really changes the game is that everything is about YOUR CHOICE.

While Assassin’s Creed Origins had RPG elements included in its open world structure, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is taking the RPG to the next level. They are offering greater player choice than ever before – with dialogue options, choice-based gameplay and even multiple endings.

The release date

I think we all were extremely curious WHEN the game will be released – AMAZING NEWS – we only have to wait until October 5th! I for myself thought we would have to wait longer to finally get into the game but here we are only about 4 months away until it all starts. It took the creators three years to get Assassin‘s Creed Odyssey done and it will be released for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

If you order the Gold Edition of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey you’ll not only be able to play the game TWO DAYS ahead of everyone else BUT also get the Season Pass and two bonus missions with it.

The Characters

In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey you can choose between two characters – Alexios or Kassandra. We had that kinda thing in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate BUT this time you won’t be able to switch between those two characters. You have to decide right at the beginning who you wanna walk through Greece with. Mainly there is no difference between those two because again – you make the choices and they change the story.

Here is what narrative director Mel MacCoubrey said about the characters:

The characters are the same; they follow a very similar story. But it’s really up to you as a player as to how you’re making decisions and how you’re role-playing those characters that really makes the experience unique.

It was very important for us to make sure that we had two solid, personable characters from the go. Somebody with a very strong personality who is very much established, who you then mould as you’re going forwards. We didn’t want it to feel like you were choosing a blank slate, that’s not what we wanted, because the main character of the Assassin’s Creed brand has always been an iconic figure and we wanted to keep it that way, even though we’re giving you a choice.

Keep reading to get a little overview about the two main characters and some other characters you will meet throughout the game. We will also share the background story to some of the characters as far as Ubisoft shared them with the world.

Alexios and Kassandra | Children Of Sparta

Alexios and Kassandra - Assassin's Creed Odyssey

A legendary broken spear and a mysterious lineage is all you have to guide you on your quest. Growing up in Sparta, you were surrounded by a loving family, and were trained in combat like a true warrior. When tragedy struck, and you were rejected by your family, you set off on an epic journey, going from outcast mercenary to legendary Spartan hero, and looking to uncover the truth about your past. Your only clue is the broken spear of Leonidas, an ancient weapon of incredible power famously used by the great king of Sparta. It is the key to the secrets of your bloodline. In your odyssey, you can sail to the farthest reaches of the Aegean Sea, forming alliances and making enemies, battling legendary creatures, and aiding the greatest minds of the time.

Sokrates | The Philosopher

Sokrates-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Brilliant, courageous, and always an interesting conversationalist, Sokrates’ modern thinking gained him favor with the intellectual elite of Athens. He’s a staunch believer in Athenian ideologies and a formidable foe in arguments, with a legendary capacity for wine. He’s also your friend and mentor and will be a source of great knowledge in your journey.

Barnabas | The Storyteller

Barnabas-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Your loyal travel companion and a man of the sea, Barnabas is a commercial shipper who offers his boat and small crew as a way for you to leave Kephallonia. An ex-soldier, he has contacts all over Ancient Greece, and always has valuable information about mercenary contracts, local leaders and new quests. He will often recount tales of your adventures and how the gods have influenced them.

Phoibe | The Protégé

Phoibe-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

A young girl from Athens now orphaned on Kephallonia, Phoibe is living a childhood not unlike your own. Because of this, you have formed a solid friendship, and she looks up to you as a mentor and role model. Phoibe’s feistiness and stubbornness may cause you problems, but her independence will ultimately lead to her own adventure.

Herodotus | The Historian

Herodotus-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

A Greek writer who is widely known as the first historian, Herodotus could be known as “The Father of History” or “The Father of Lies,” depending on who you ask. He travels with you on your ship, documenting your odyssey as it progresses. His historical accounts may sometimes err a little too far on the side of storytelling, but isn’t that how legends are created?

Hippokrates | The Physician

Hippokrates-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Widely thought of as the father of modern medicine, Hippokrates is famous for his important and lasting contributions to the field. However, some of the more religious citizens of Greece see his methods as controversial – he thinks he can manipulate a fate that the gods have already decided? Therefore, in the most religious places, those who need his help approach him secretly to receive proper treatment.

Aspasia | The Influencer

Aspasia-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

A brilliant thinker and speaker, Aspasia enjoys a place at the center of Athens’s vibrant intellectual community. Exceedingly beautiful, she shed the life of a normal Athenian woman to reinvent herself as a hetaera, an Athenian high society courtesan. Always at the side of her partner, Perikles’, she hosts events and parties for the great thinkers, artists and politicians of the time.

Leonidas | Legendary Spartan Hero

Leonidas-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

The king of Sparta who defied the elders, the oracle and the gods to lead a small group of soldiers against the Persian army in the battle of the 300 at Thermopylae. He may have lost that battle and his life, but his bravery paved the way for the victories to come and gave birth to a legend. You now carry his spear, a family heirloom, passed down so you may discover the truth of your bloodline.

Perikles | The Visionary

Perikles-Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Faced with the wrath of the Spartan army on his doorstep, Perikles, as the elected leader of Athens, must fight to protect the blossoming Golden Age of Greece. He is stoic, scheming, blue blooded and aristocratic, but his refusal to meet Sparta on the battlefield casts him as uncaring in the eyes of the suffering Athenians. In reality he has built this new Athens for his partner Aspasia and refuses to engage the Spartans because he cannot see his city burn, especially with her in it.
