Aimee Garcia joins Lucifer cast

Lucifer - Quintessential Deckerstar

Dexter alum joins Lucifer as season regular

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that former Dexter alum Aimee Garcia will be joining the cast of FOX’s Lucifer for season 2.

The role is a bit of a jump from her time on Dexter, where she played the nanny to the secret serial killer’s infant son. THR gives the following description of the new character;

Garcia will play Ella Lopez, the police department’s new forensic scientist. A bit of a walking contradiction, Ella is described as brainy but spiritual, warm but tough. She grew up in a pretty rough neighborhood in Detroit, but also in a strong Catholic family, under the watchful and protective eye of her five brothers … which might explain some of her opposing personality traits. It also explains why she’s always felt comfortable in the tough, male-dominated world of law enforcement. Her mutual belief in both faith and science proves a point of interest to Lucifer (Tom Ellis), and the rest of the department, as they get to know and love her quirky ways.

Although given that Dexter was a forensic scientist, y’know, when he wasn’t murdering people, we wonder if she will be calling on her former co-star for tips?

This comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Tricia Helfer has been cast to play the Mother of Angels.

Garcia joins regulars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Kevin Alejandro, D.B Woodside and Lesley-Ann Brandt as the show goes forward to its second season. The premiere will be on Monday September 19th at 9pm on FOX.
