Underworld 5 Release Date, News, and Updates

Great news Underworld Fans —  As we previously mentioned, Kate Beckinsale is back for the fifth installment of the franchise! The goddess of beauty will again pack her sexy suit and will soon return to balance the world of vampires and werewolves. Much to the delight of the Underworld saga fans, the lovely 41-year old British actress will be back as Selene for the latest saga of this action-packed, horror franchise.

The announcement came down from West Hollywood last Friday.

She will star opposite British sensation Theo James who played the role of David, the Vampire-Corvinus Strain Hybrid who is also the son of Thomas. As for the supposed main plot of the new story, David will carry on as one of the main character of the Underworld’s latest chapter. Writer Cory Goodman (writer of Priest which was released in 2011) was tagged to write on the movie script. The much-awaited fifth movie, and possibly the final installment of the franchise (please say no) is rumored to focus on a new generation of vampires and werewolves following the main character’s new-found bloodline yet complete details of the storyline remain in the dark.

Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi of Lakeshore have been tagged to produce the next film.

Big news came out of this most recent announcement is, that we will have a first time female director. The signs all point to Anna Foerster, who served under Roland Emmerich as director for photography in White House Down and worked as second unit director in 10,000 BC and The Day After Tomorrow, and has stints in directing TV Shows (Outlander, Criminal Minds, and Unforgettable), to handle this action packed series.

The title for the latest edition of Underworld is still in the works yet it has been initially tagged as Underworld: Next Generation. Casting is still ongoing for other roles and supporting characters while shooting date is tentatively scheduled to start this October in Prague. So far, there is no tentative release date yet that has been set.
