So with it being Father’s Day here in the UK and it being my first without my father, I thought I would honour him and relate to him. Now you might be thinking how is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade related to my Father? The answer is simple, when they were filming they needed a big load of soldiers who could march for the big book burning scene. Instead of paying a load of extra’s and then paying for them to learn how to march, they paid for the local TA, to be in the film. We even got special passes when it opened in the cinema. He could always point himself out in the scene in question.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade had a tremendous cast, with Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Denholm Elliott, Alison Doody, John Rhys Davies, River Phoenix, Julian Glover and many more. In this instalment of the film franchise we see Indiana receiving a diary that belongs to his Father, leading him and many others to the Holy Grail.
This adventure involves the Germans, X marking the Spot even though in a lecture Indiana himself stated X never ever marks the spot, Tanks, Horses, humour, Knights who protect the Grail, a journey on a Zepplin that is shown on the map as they travel and of course the infamous bike and Side Car Indiana and his Father use to escape the Germans. One of these days I will be at an event and make the time to have a picture on that bike, I missed it last time, but will next time.
So have a listen to some of the great songs that make Indiana Jones and the last crusade a must see film for those who haven’t already.
