Holly, Friend or Foe In This Week’s Power – It’s Never Over

Warning: This article contains spoilers from this week’s episode of Power. Read at your own risk.

After the airing of Season 3, Episode 2 of the STARZ original series Power, many questions continue to linger in the minds of loyal viewers. Of course one of the main cliff hangers centered around the broken relationship status of Ghost and Tommy but a new twist has presented a questionable motive with Tommy’s girlfriend Holly. Is she friend or foe?

Episode 2 of Season 3’s hit series Power – It’s Never Over, aired on Sunday, July 25 and revealed what most viewers probably already knew about the current love-hate relationship between best friends Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Tommy (Joseph Sikora). Even when the stakes are high and his finger is on the trigger, with adrenaline on high and a clear shot to end the life of someone he’s always considered a brother, not just a friend, Tommy couldn’t go through with murdering his former partner, Ghost, even though his own life, and the life of his girlfriend, was on the line.

Ghost’s failed attempt to kill their major drug distributor Lobos (Enrique Murciano) coupled with his new desire to leave the streets and drug trafficking business behind, and pursue a straight and legal life as a major club owner, has now placed Tommy in the top position. Maintaining that position comes with a price, the biggest being the order from Lobos to take out Ghost, which proved to be a more difficult task than expected according to TVLine.

Lobos stated plainly that in order for him to continue to do business with Tommy as his go-to guy, Ghost needed to die and Tommy had to be the one to do it. In an effort to reinforce his demands, Lobos sent his men to Tommy’s home to kill Bella, the beloved dog of Tommy and his girlfriend Holly (Lucy Walters).

Once Bella goes missing, Holly and Tommy post photos of the dog around the neighborhood with the hopes that someone will spot her and bring her home. The search continued until Tommy finally revealed to his red-haired love interest that Bella was not missing, she’d been killed because he was not able to follow through with the plan to kill Ghost.

After hearing what Tommy had been ordered to do and how he had attempted to follow through with those orders earlier that evening but, was unsuccessful, Holly provided what would seem like words of comfort and reassurance to her man but, her words posed further questions of her true motives.

“IF YOU CAN’T KILL GHOST FOR YOURSELF, DO IT FOR ME.” – Holly

“I understand,” Holly reassured Tommy. Recognizing just how much Ghost means to Tommy and how he would continue to struggle to carry out the hit, Holly tells him she believes in him and she knows he can get the job done. Moreso. Holly also displayed other untrustworthy actions during Episode 2 when she sneakingly placed a check, written out to Tommy from Ghost, in her back pocket while seducing him, and later attempted to cash the check but to no avail.

In a recent interview with Zap2it, Omari Hardwick hinted that among his character’s enemies, his ex-wife Tasha (Naturi Naughton) might do the most damage. After deciding to go their separate ways, Tasha is left to raise Ghost’s kids all by herself which has been very difficult for her. “I would definitely think that there is an enemy looming in her that to me might be the most detrimental,” Hardwick said.

“… Because you know, hell really hath no fury like a woman scorned. … There’s a bond when you make kids with somebody that is pretty incredible, so that’s definitely an enemy in the making. … She can hurt him a lot worse,” he added.

With that being said, while at the bank attempting to deposit the check, she (Holly) discovered how Tommy had multiple accounts and several protective measures in place to avoid the type of scam she was attempting to pull. When speaking with Tommy about his solid accounts, she discovered that it was Tasha, Ghost’s estranged wife, who set up the accounts. Against his wishes, Holly reached out to Tasha so she could learn everything there is to know about those accounts and how to “move the money around.”

There could be even more shady business going on in this season and Holly may be placed at the center of it all. She may even have some sort of ties to Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson) who has yet to make his reappearance during the first two episodes. Do you think Holly is out to rob Tommy of all of his money?
