That’s an awful lot of flashy, but we managed to glean a few things. Stephen Moyer’s Reed works for the shadowy government organisation responsible for rounding up mutants. When his children exhibit powers and the organisation (Sentinel) comes for them he goes on the run to protect them. His wife, played by Amy Acker, seems to be more receptive to mutant types. Perhaps she is one herself and has kept it secret?
They join up with an underground mutant organisation to evade the authorities. It looks like Reed offers to help break out at least one of their number from Sentinel in exchange for their help.
With a mixture of established and new mutant characters, this looks set to expand the X-Men universe. It remains to see if it ties in to the X-Men movie franchise or FOX’s other mutant show, Legion.
FOX are obviously hoping to capitalise on the comic book fan audience they have already secured. Their fall schedule, released today, shows that Marvel’s The Gifted will be paired with established show Lucifer. Lucifer is moving to 8pm, with Marvel’s The Gifted at 9pm. This DC/Marvel combo will hopefully work in The Gifted’s favour, with Lucifans sticking around to see what other comic book fare is on offer.
