Walker : Barn Burner Round Table Review

Season 2 is finally here. Are you guys ready for another roller coaster ride of emotions? This Walker episode is called “Barn Burner” and trust me, you don’t wanna miss out on this one. Joining me (Rike) on this round table review is Kassi. Let’s go!

Walker: Barn Burner Synopsis

Walker (Jared Padalecki) invites Gale Davidson (Paula Marshall) to participate in the chili cookoff to try and make amends after years of their families feuding. Micki (Lindsey Morgan) and Trey (Jeff Pierre) work on reconciling their relationship when she comes home after her deep undercover operation.

Your opinion about Trey continuing to put Cordell into the middle of his relationship with Micki?

R: I do agree with Kassi. It feels like this is a completely normal behavior. We are not talking about just a friend. Micki and Trey are in a relationship and of course you wanna know what’s going on with your beloved one. It’s just a bad situation for Cordell. He is being caught in the middle of all this. On the one hand he truly wants to tell Trey what’s going on but on the other hand he doesn’t wanna make it worse for Micki by telling himself. Feels like a never ending story to me until Micki will be able to tell the truth.

K: I mean, can you blame him for doing that? No one is telling him anything. He doesn’t know about Garrison or anything else – the only thing he does know is that the undercover mission is over, yet Micki isn’t coming home nor is she answering his phone calls (which I assume since he was genuinely surprised when she answered). He’s worried about her and Cordell is the only person who cares about Micki as much as he does and who might have an answer to what happened.

We got a pretty emotional scene in this episode when Cordell broke down crying, saying he remembered bringing a lantern to the barn, and he questioned if he caused the fire and if they weren’t bad people. Do you think Walker’s suffering will get worse than just the nightmares?

K: I don’t necessarily think that it will get worse. What I do think is that the guilt is going to eat him alive if he ever finds out that he really was responsible for the fire. I really think that the only way he’s ever going to forgive himself is if the Davidsons forgive him too – and that’s just something I don’t think is going to happen. But let’s wait and see…

R: This scene got me pretty hard. Perfect acting and it gave me all the feels. The nightmares will probably continue for some time. A long time. Not sure if it will get worse one day. He’s dealing with a lot already, not just the nightmares. Let’s not forget about the scene with August (Kale Culley), where he was close to start a small fire. Walker was pretty damn emotional. Fire is a sensitive issue that’s for sure. I just hope that in the end it’s all going to be okay for once, please. Maybe all these flashback scenes aren’t 100% true. Maybe they are playing with us again. Who knows?

Abby (Molly Hagan) and Micki were bonding in this episode. Do you think the advice Micki received will help her to find some closure?

R: First of all, can we please have some more scenes between the two of them. Loved it! They’ve got some great chemistry even though it was kinda a short scene. To answer the question, yes I do think that the advice will help her to find some closure. She deserves it. Micki has been suffering for quite some time. I’m not saying that it’s gonna be over soon, but it seems like there’s light in the darkness. Hopefully I’m right with this one.

K: Yeah I do. I think Micki needed to hear someone say that because I think that’s something she hasn’t been able to do so far. Maybe the reason why she hasn’t been able to be completely honest with herself is because of guilt. Who knows maybe it’s guilt for not being able to save Garrison, guilt for the way she’s feeling because of her ex’s death or guilt because of the way they parted ways in the past. But I do think that Abby’s advice gave her the courage to start being honest with herself about the way she’s been feeling.

Were you surprised that the new buyer was Dan Miller?

K: Not really. I’ve been suspicious of Dan since he got introduced. He has this obsessive need to defend his family and their family name. He also really hates the Walker family based on what his family has told him about the fire. So it’s no surprise that he wants to dig up dirt on the Walkers.

R: If one of y’all is surprised with this then I don’t know what you’ve been watching lately. It was pretty obvious that Dan would be the first person in line when it comes to the Walker family. He wants to find out more. Like Kassi already mentioned, he wants to dig up dirt on the Walkers. That’s been clear since the very beginning. He didn’t make a huge secret out of it. Let’s see if he’ll be successful. Or maybe he just buried himself alive with this decision. Everything’s possible in this series.
