EuropaCorp announced yesterday that it has moved the U.S. release of The Transporter Refueled back two and a half months from June 19 to Sept. 4.
The company said the fall release for Refueled, the start of a new trilogy in the Transporter franchise, will help capitalize on the cast’s ability to promote the film. It noted that the previous three Transporter films, starring Jason Statham, were also released during the fall, in 2002, 2005 and 2008.
The Labor Day date will also see the U.S. launches of Relativity’s Jane Got a Gun, Sony’s zombie-vampire comedy Kitchen Sink and the Weinstein Co.’s action-thriller No Escape.
Transporter Refueled is the first release going out through the EuropaCorp label in the U.S.
