The Originals – 1 Year On

1 year ago today, The Originals ended. Or not, if you’re still in denial about that ending like I am. That aside, a few of us who loved the show dearly decided to take a look back and remember some of our favourite things.

First up, who is your favourite Mikaelson?

Clare – Really? You have to ask. Hybrid King ALLLLLL day. Klaus Mikaelson owned my heart from the second he stepped out of that trunk on TVD and never gave it back.

Jenn – Sorry but I need to go with Elijah Mikaelson. I mean he is sharp-dressed and gorgeous. From day one when Daniel Gillies “suited-up” I was hooked.

Sabrina – Ooooooh that’s SO easy for me to say – Klaus Mikaelson! Not only because he was portrayed by Joseph Morgan but also because his character was one of the best I’ve ever seen on a TV show!

Sophie – silly question, Klaus Mikaelson… no contest!

Favourite character who is NOT a Mikaelson?

Clare – Aurora. Crazy, beautiful Aurora de Martel, played by Rebecca Breeds. I spoke to her at a con after s3 and she told me that she had originally been planned to be the Big Bad, instead of Marcel, but that she’d gotten a role in another show so they had to change things up. I wish we’d gotten that instead, as I think it would have been more interesting.

Jenn – Jackson hands down. He was sexy and mysterious and yummy. Nathan is so quiet and shy and I think part of that comes out in his role.

Sabrina – Oooooh that’s a hard one. Probably Vincent Griffith played by Yusuf Gatewood. He came out so small but got such a big part in the storyline and the development of his character just blew my mind.

Sophie – Camille O’Connell, I loved the fact she wouldn’t put up with Klaus’ Klaus-ness.

Do you have a favourite episode of The Originals?

Clare – It’s a toss-up for me between The River in Reverse from season 1 and The Axeman’s Letter in season 3. TRIR probably edges it, because how are you going to beat Klaus taking on Marcel’s mob? Just epic!

Jenn – Picking a fave is like picking your fave child. But I think I will have to pick Always and Forever. I mean it brought us the show. How could you not pick that one?

Sabrina – SO many good episodes but one of my favorite ones is definitely Season 4 Episode 1 – Gather Up The Killer. This episode was epic and Klaus was defeated, Marcel was rising and we’ve got a LOT of awesome stuff in that episode.

Sophie – this is a hard question! I loved the Aunt Dahlia storyline, so anything with Claudia Black gets my vote.

Is there a scene that stands out for you above all others?

Clare – As I mentioned above, Klaus taking on Marcel’s goons in season 1 is one of my all-time favourite scenes. Everything about it, right down to the music, is perfect.

Sabrina – I can’t really name a scene to be honest. I would say all the scenes where we got the whole Mikaelson family together, plotting plans, fighting and all. This is what the show always was about – so those are my most favorite scenes!

Sophie – the last season ep 8, when Eljiah doesn’t have his memories and the siblings are trapped in the Chambre de Chasse, they have to find there way out. Klaus doesn’t want Elijah to remember what he has done but ultimately he has Elijah’s back and they go through the red door together.

Do you have a favourite ‘ship?

Clare – I had two, Klaroline and Haylijah, and I’m still bitter that BOTH got poorly treated in the end.

Jenn – Klaroline hands down!

Sabrina – It must sound weird to some of you but it was Klaroline and Klamille. And both ships had potential but got ruined in the end.

Sophie – Klaroline all the way! I love those 2 together, she puts him in his place.

What one thing are you most thankful to the show for?

Clare – THIS JOB! I joined FANdemonium Network as recapper for The Originals, and things went from there.

Jenn – The conventions and the friends I have made because of it.

Sabrina – Meeting some of the most amazing people in my life through the show. One of them is our lovely Clare – I owe her A LOT and I wouldn’t know what to do without her and with whom I could share my fangirl moments about Joseph with 😉

Sophie – the entertainment, the emotional rollercoaster, the characters…. I could go on…

Have you met any of the cast of The Originals? If so, who?

Clare – Yep, I met Nate Buzolic, Sebastian Roche, Rebecca Breeds and Daniel Gillies at various events in the UK. Then back in February I went to the Creation TVD con in Nashville with Jenn and Angel and finally met my idol Joseph Morgan, as well as Summer Fontana and Danielle Rose Russell (younger and older Hope), Riley Voelkel (Freya), Torrance Coombs (Declan). I think that’s it, but there might be more.

Jenn I sure have. I met Nate Buzolic, Sebastian Roche, Daniel Gillies, Nathan Parsons, Claire Holt, Steven Krueger, Charles Michael Davis, Joseph Morgan, Summer Fontana, Danielle Rose Russell, Riley Voelkel and Torrance Coombs.. There might be more.. I can’t recall.. Does meeting Ian and Paul count?

Sabrina – Sadly I haven’t met a lot of them BUT I met Nate Buzolic, Paul Wesley (if that counts) and Daniel Sharman. still waiting for that one chance to meet Joseph Morgan at some point. But a girl can dream right?

Sophie – Chase Coleman, he was so lovely. Sebastian Roche – he played with my sword! (I was cosplaying at the time).
