Deadline has reported that it isn’t just Snow White who’ll be missing from Universal’s The Huntsman. Most of the seven dwarves won’t be in the film either.
Nick Frost, Toby Jones and Eddie Marsan will not be reprising their roles as the pint-sized companions. That’s partly due to the fact that The Huntsman will only feature two dwarves and it has not been released who those will be. Marsan was never in the mix to return due to scheduling conflicts with his role in Ray Donovan, while Frost and Jones appear not to have agreed terms to return for the second installment.
Returning from the first film will be, as the title indicates, Chris Hemsworth‘s character as well as Charlize Theron’s evil queen Ravenna. Deadline was first to report, director Frank Darabont exited the project earlier this month due to creative differences with Universal moving swiftly to replace him with VFX wiz Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. Nicolas-Troyan worked on the first film, earning a Visual Effects Oscar nom.
The studio is also in talks with Emily Blunt to play a villain in the film.
The film is set for release on April 22, 2016.
