This week for soundtrack Sunday I bring you the soundtrack to a film that I love around Christmas, it has what most will know that some of us have family to spend it with and some of us don’t. While you were sleeping, stars Sandra Bullock as a lonely ticket booth operator who has fallen in love with a man she sees on a daily basis but has never even spoken too. In this tale she has a taste of the family she has always wanted at the season that can feel the most lonely.
Lucy (Sandra Bullock) has fallen for one of the customers she serves tickets to on a daily basis, she has never spoken to him but has fallen for his rich looks and charms. Peter (Peter Gallagher) earns a good amount of money and is on his way home from work close to Christmas when he is mugged at the train station and pushed onto the tracks, Lucy runs to save him and pulls him from the tracks before he is hit by the train. Peter is rushed to hospital and is in a coma and because she is not family Lucy can’t see him, in her emotions of care she accidentally says to her self but out loud that she was going to marry him, this leads a nurse to take her to him and she is introduced to his family as his fiancé. Peter is not close to his family and so they take her in thinking that she really is his fiancé.
Over the Christmas period whilst he lays in hospital in a coma she visits him and gets close to his family, feeling a family connection she herself doesn’t have and starts to fall for Peters brother Jack (Bill Pullman). I love this film and the sings that accompany it as they really show the love and warmth that can be shown to others by the season of Christmas and it really warms my heart.
So listen to a few songs that are in the film and I do recommend if you haven’t seen it yet, to please do so and feel the joy that Christmas can bring! Thank you!
