Shadow and Bone Premiere Event – The Aftermath

As we announced earlier today, we’ve all been invited to the Shadow and Bone Premiere Event. A special virtual event featuring cast members Jessie Mei Li, Ben Barnes, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Archie Renaux, and Executive Producers Leigh Bardugo and Eric Heisserer!

Shadow and Bone Sneak Peek Premiere Event

They promised us a 10-minute-long sneak peek of the first episode of the show. Games. Fan questions and BTS stories. That’s exactly what they gave us. Sometimes it happens to have a cast where they hardly interact out of work hours. However, we can clearly see that this is not the case. This is probably one of the factors that made Shadow and Bone a great success even before airing other than being based on worldwide acclaimed YA books.

Going back to the event, they showed the first meeting between Leigh Bardugo and the cast, on their first day on set. Just imagine – you’ve worked so hard in writing amazing books and sacrifice after sacrifice you’re able to see your “children” – as Leigh Bardugo said – coming to life right in front of you. That was a real emotional scene that showed all the love put in the realization of this world.

Sneak Peak

But what’s really making social medias go crazy is the 10-minutes sneak peek of the first episode of the show. We recognized some scenes from stills previously released by Netflix. Mal and Alina waiting for their departure and The Crows being crows in Ketterdam. From what I’ve seen, I can already say that I couldn’t have imagined it any better. They have perfectly captured their characters souls. Coming from a very picky book fan.

In only 10 minutes they’ve fueled two of the main ships of the show – Malina (Alina and Mal) and Kanej (Kaz and Inej). Specifically for the latter, by rephrasing their most famous quote to “I only invest in one of a kind. She isn’t like you. No one is.”. Once again, with an amazing portrayal of the actors, something that seemed impossible when they first announced the books being adapted to a show.

April 23rd is here.

Less than 8 hours left before the show finally airs on Netflix. After being classified as “Fresh” by Rotten Tomatoes with a score of 93%, Shadow and Bone is ready to take over the world.

Netflix also decided to release more stills that you can find in the gallery at the bottom of the page.

Don’t forget to read our Grishaverse roundtable if you haven’t done yet, and we’ll meet very soon for the reviews of the show… after having survived the Shadow Fold.
