PUNO, a Peruvian Cyberpunk comic is on Kickstarter
Squeaking this one in just under the wire, PUNO is a Peruvian Cyberpunk comic funding now on kickstarter with just over 24 hours to go as I type. PUNO is written and illustrated by Gustaffo Vargas who some of you may recognise as the amazing artist from Madius Comics’ Cicadian Rhythms and as one of the SkrawlLordz behind the recent SKRAWL comic launch.
The Campaign
PUNO is a science fiction comic created by Gustaffo Vargas. The Kickstarter campaign was launched on September 28th and will run until November 5th.
The campaign has been very well received and backed by comic enthusiasts, independent creators and pros from the industry. It reached its funding goal in the first 4 hours of launch and has 431 backers and is 517% backed at the time of writing.
The Story
PUNO is the second volume of a 3 volume story. The first volume, MANU, was released in 2019 and PILCUYO, the third and last volume will be released by the end of 2021. MANU won the 2019 Best UK Independent Comic of the Year.
MANU tells the story of Lila, a young girl who has been hiding from her past; while a corrupt politician and a secret agent are trying to find the source of a very powerful force, which is somehow connected to Lila. PUNO follows Lila agreeing to help the mischievous Xolo, a dubious character who claims that he can help her. Meanwhile we see the politician and the agent getting closer on their search.
Peruvian Cyberpunk
The World of Peruvian Cyberpunk is a world where robotics and bio-technology are accessible to many, where corrupt governments and crime organisations
clash constantly in disputes over power. All Peruvian Cyberpunk stories share the same world and some characters appear in more than one book.
The Kickstarter Campaign
The Kickstarter Campaign also offers the chance to get the full catalogue of Peruvian Cyberpunk books in physical or digital formats. The digital books will be
available in English and Spanish versions.
PUNO is a 40 page, full colour comic about robots, memories, warfare and sex. A5 size (14.8 x 21cm / 5.8 x 8.3 inch).
MANU is a 44 page, full-colour comic about monkeys, jaguars, cyborgs with a mystery. A5 size (14.8 x 21cm / 5.8 x 8.3 inch).
L1MA is a 32 page, full-colour comic about pirañas, vultures, robots and mafias. A5 size (14.8 x 21cm / 5.8 x 8.3 inch).
TRUJILLO is a 28 page, full-colour comic about gangsters, shamans, drugs & dogs. A5 size (14.8 x 21cm / 5.8 x 8.3 inch).
It also offers original pages and original sketch drawings as reward tiers.
Stretch Goals
There are several colourful rewards for backers: PUNO character Postcards, a Pack of Peruvian Cyberpunk stickers, a Pin-Up print from Honduran artist
Cleonique Hilsaca and another Pin-Up from Greek artist Elena Gogou, the final goal remains to be revealed.

Gustaffo Vargas is a Peruvian comic book artist and writer based in Edinburgh, UK.
Since 2017 he’s been self-publishing his Peruvian Cyberpunk comics MANU, L1MA & TRUJILLO. MANU won the 2019 Best UK Independent Comic of the
Year.
He has worked with Dan Abnett as principal artist for Crayta, UK independent publishers such as Accent UK, Mad Robot Comics, Madius Comics and in Peru for Carboncito and In Planet Stereo. Gustaffo is also a founding member of the SkrawlLordz, a team of UK indie creators that produce SKRAWL: comix magazine.
