‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’: New Plot Details Revealed

Disney’s last  Pirates Of The Caribbean may have crashed and burned with critics, it still managed to make over $1 billion in theaters (mostly on the foreign box office). After a brief hiatus, Jerry Bruckheimer and company are almost back in pre-production for the newest film, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Little snippets have been coming to light over the past few months, but thanks to Mirror, we finally have a solid premise of sorts from actor Brenton Thwaites, who is attached to the film in an unknown role.

“It’s about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father, Davy Jones. There’s a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it’s about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad. I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be a lot of fun!”

Actor Brenton Thwaites (who we last saw in The Giver) is set to play an unknown role in the latest ‘Pirates’ movie. Could he be Will Turner’s son?

While the fact that the story was potentially set to bring back Orlando Bloom, isn’t quite new, the actual synopsis is. For those who don’t remember–or never saw–Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, the story ends with Orlando Bloom’s character taking up the mantle as Davy Jones and becoming captain of The Flying Dutchman, leaving behind Keira Knightley’s character and their unborn son. Well, it looks like the story will be a continuation of that particular thread.

This could be be a new return for form for the franchise as it seems to revolve around a very tangible and relatable story. Throw in the rest of the Pirates mix into the equation, and you could have gold again for Disney.
On top of the synopsis, Jerry Bruckheimer has announced via his Twitter account that Kaya Scodelario, who played Teresa in The Maze Runner last year, will be joining the growing cast of the film, which is expected (but not fully confirmed) to include Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, and Javier Bardem as the main antagonist

The script for the Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is being written by Jeff Nathanson, who has lent his talents to such films as Rush Hour 2, The Terminal, as well as the more recent Tower Heist. The flick is set to be directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, who have worked together on films such as Bandidas and Kon-Tiki.
