Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Mordo, like Stephen Strange, was a student of The Ancient One with comparal magical abilities. The pair first faced off when Mordo plotted to kill his teacher which lead to Strange taking up the mystical arts. Mordo has gone on to become a recurring villain against Strange in the years since. It was initially reported when Ejiofor was cast that the film’s version of Mordo would not be totally evil in the film, but rather an amalgamation of several characters in the Strange canon, meaning he could potentially begin as an ally and gradually turn to evil.
Scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange is scripted by Jon Spaihts and directed by Scott Derrickson. It is said to follow the story of neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
Also attached to star in Doctor Strange is Rachel McAdams as the female lead, Michael Stuhlbarg as Doctor Nicodemus West, and Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One. Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is also in talks for the villain role of the film, which remains a mystery.
